key fob battery replacement

Hey, all, am I crazy or does anyone else have this kind of key fob?

I have two originals for my '06. One is only a backup because the key always gets stuck. I took it apart and the eject button seems fine, but when I put it back together, the key continues to get stuck. That key stays in a drawer for emergencies. Now the battery is dead in the other one, so I Youtubed how to change the battery, but all the videos show a slot on the case, after you take the key off, to get into where the battery is.

Neither of mine have any slot whatsoever, anywhere on that case. It's just smooth plastic with the Underwriter Labs' symbol and lots of letters and numbers printed. I got the metal key part off but can't figure out how to get the case open, ugh! Any tips?

Thanks!

It comes apart, just takes a bit of prying. The button half lifts off from the bottom half.

So far it's key fob 1, Beth 0. Geez! I can't even get it to wiggle. I can't believe the plastic hasn't broken yet. I'll try again later... after a glass of wine or three. haha

I just took mine apart to remember how to do it. Once you have the key part off, look at the opening it leaves. You'll see 2 little gaps on either side of the fob case, on the interior side. Gently insert something thin in there and pry, it should pop up. It doesn't require huge amounts of force, just a bit of determination.

I'm curious as to why you have a flick out key vs my 06 having the "credit card like" key:ftw:

Not sure how that works either, my 05 has a flip out key that I much prefer, I actually like having a key that plugs into the ignition. And the other has that stupid god damn card key.

CC style is for cars with advanced keyless entry. You can open the doors/trunk and start the car with the key in your pocket.

Switchblade style key you have to press the unlock button on the remote to unlock the doors and insert the key in the ignition to start the car.
