Just ordered

Ok, I'm in. I preordered mine last week, and then upgraded from Touring to Grand Touring yesterday. And it turns out yesterday was the last day I could do that, since it gets locked in (whatever that means) today.

My question is that the paper I got from my dealer said that my car's expected build day was the first week of May. I have read on here that March orders were June. Anyone know what gives? I sure hope it's May, I want my car!!!

By the way, I got Winning Blue, 6MT, with the Grand Touring package. I cannot wait.

Congrats! You are gonna enjoy it!

As per your delivery date... I'd email mazda and find out.

There's the problem. The delivery date was TBD.

Rotor, I wish that were the case, but it's not. The dealer took one of their allocations and changed it to what I wanted. They don't seem to know much at the dealership. I know, big surprise, but they should at least know delivery schedules or this whole Jan, Feb, March preorder stuff.

So I emailed Mazda. Their response was that all cars built in May will arrive in July to September. I would expect it by July, unless the car gets held up at port. I go on vacation in the middle of July so I'll keep my fingers crossed that I'll have it for then.

My build date is the first week of May. So if you are shooting for the first week of May for delivery, when was your build date? That might help to figure out how long it is taking Mazda to produce them.

Diana,

Congrats on your order! That is an earlier delivery than what the majority of us have been told. Have you gotten any direct emails from Mazda to support this? I ordered in the first allocation, and am being told mid-June by the dealership. Have not gotten anything from Mazda other than a confirmation that my order was received.

who told you your car was already being built? if it was the dealer ask him for some proof, because, sorry to say this, he is either wrong or he is lieing.

Diana
production for the u.s.a. is being done in three increments. depending on which date you ordered by, the cars will arrive late may/ early june, july/august or september/october.

what kind of updates is he giving you? although i am glad to hear of a dealership keeping in contact with it's customers, U.S. production hasn't even started so there can't be much to update you about. you can shoot at early may all you want, but if i were you i would hope for early june, that way when it does come in late may or early june you won't be disapointed.

Hi Diana, welcome to the forum

And I don't have any comment on when the cars will get here- I ordered mine in February, but my dealer seems to be a bit of an idiot and doesn't know anything. As long as I get it before the end of the year, I'll be happy.

Hi,
Sorry if i caused any confusion, the people I am working with are at Delray Mazda, my dealer is Ray Brown. Up until now he has kept his date at the first week of may. Now I dont know whether he is lieing or not but he is a personal friend and wouldnt lie to keep me happy, the reason he calls every other day is because like I said a good friend, I never said he gave me new info every other day just said he called. Also from what they have been saying they have started to go into production, my dad has met and talked to the manager of mazda in JAPAN! Psycho you guessed it. But yeah the dealer gets them in end of April and they releases them as they like is what I heard, so these are probably the release dates YOUR dealer is releasing them every dealer is different.

No kidding. Makes you wonder, doesn't it? At the rate it's going, looks like most of the dealers people on the forum have dealt with are related!!

I guess the question is, "where do you live, rx8crazy"? If you live in Japan, then, yes, they have started production. If you live anywhere else on the planet, they have not.

ok. here is the definitive word on the subject from mazda usa. it seems production is slightly behind schedule. i think some dealers are confusing the delivery date with the start of production.

"Hello Charlie,

Thank you again for your interest in Mazda. I appreciate the
opportunity to respond to you.

Production for the Mazda RX-8 is slated to begin in April. The vehicles should be arriving in June, and possibly late May at the earliest. Please note that depending on actual production and shipping, the dates could change.

I hope this information is useful. Please let me know if I can be of
any further assistance. "

hope that helps clear up the situation rx8crazy

Sounds about right. My build date is 1st week April, and I'm still expecting late May/early June(at the earliest). If a dealer is named "DelRay" I'm guessing somewhere south of Long Beach CA?

HEY! Are you dealing with Sansone's Rt. 1 Mazda???

My guess is yes, since you are in Woodbridge. I'm getting a 6 MT from them too, and I was SUPPOSED to get the GT (even though I really just wanted the Touring because I really don't want leather). Anyway, before I asked if they had a Touring available and they said no, I guess when you upgraded the Touring became available, and that's the pre-order I just got!!! I guess I should thank you!

Oh, BTW, when did you pre-order the car originally with the Touring package, because that'll bank on when I get mine lol. And yours should be in by July for certain, since they probally just switched you out to the car I was GOING to get (which they pre-ordered back in January).

I've been dealing with Sansone's since January, only my time is limited and they are 2+ hours from me, so they finally decided to take all my info and get the pre-order over phone/fax. But hey, thanks for upgrading, otherwise I'd not have the Touring in Winning Blue like I wanted .

Hey DreamWarrior,

I'm assuming you are talking to me. Yes, Sansone is my dealer (they are a mile away!!). I wish I could accept all your nice gestures, but I don't think I had anything to do with you getting the Touring.

I ordered my car on March 13th, and then upgraded on the 17th, and they finalized all orders on the 18th. For my car, they supposedly changed one of the cars they already had coming in for their inventory to be my car. So I don't think me upgrading changed it, unless they decided to change a different car for me, and give you the one I had ordered. I guess that's completely possible, but who knows.

Well, I'm glad you got what you wanted. Just don't drive around me, we can't be twins!!!

Yeah, I was talking to you . I don't know if you had anything to do with it or not, all I do know is when I asked originally in January if they had a Winning Blue 6MT w/ Touring Package they said no, but they had it with the GT package, or GT w/ nav. package. I told them I didn't want nav, but would live with the GT as long as it was 6 speed and Winning Blue. Until a couple days ago of emailing back and forth and my inability to drive the 2+ hours to finalize everything, they finally decided to do everything over the phone. At which point, they told me that the GT was already taken, which pissed me off, until they told me a Touring was available, and I was happy since it saves me some cash, and the only thing I wanted out of the GT package was the 6 way power seat...but I didn't REALLY want leather.

Anyway, looks like we'll both be happy. And while we are color twins, I wouldn't worry too much about me being around you, as I'm 2+ hours away from Sansone's, near Atlantic City . As far as I know, I'll be the only Winning Blue RX-8 in this area, since the local dealers only got 3 allocated to them...so I'll own this area in Winning Blue hehehe.
