WoodsOfGreenRx8 09-09-2007 11:33 AM

Must not drive at night? :dunno:

CarAndDriver 09-09-2007 11:47 AM

Useless w/o pics.

nycgps 09-09-2007 12:06 PM

Whats the point of it ? It looks nice for sure.

but at night time ....

LionZoo 09-11-2007 01:05 PM

Might as well just tint the headlights.

Jedi54 09-11-2007 02:07 PM

these are not going to produce much usable lighting. Post pics at night and you'll see...

Alano 09-11-2007 02:13 PM

Illegal?

SayNoToPistons 09-11-2007 02:30 PM

Wow, this thread failed in every way.

llzjayarzll 09-11-2007 07:58 PM

you would think after two days he would reply to his own thread and put pictures at least.

i have 12000k bulbs in mine. i don't understand what everyone is complaining about. yeah, they do produce less visible light, but i have no problems whatsoever seeing at night. and living in north jersey, i run into ALOT of unlit roads. i have 3000k hids in my fogs, so maybe that counteracts the less light from the lowbeams. i just don't see what the big deal is, i have plenty of light on the road. maybe if you use a cheap ebay bulb or kit you get sh*tty light. i bought well made bulbs so maybe that's why mine are so bright. i dont recomment getting cheap bulbs no matte what color temp, if they arent made right they completely throw off the projector pattern/cutoff.

ac3mastuh 09-11-2007 08:22 PM

fail....

Huskyfan23 09-11-2007 09:24 PM

cost you 400 bux? You can get 1200k's for 60 bux online that fix into your stock HIDs. I just put 8000k's on mine and it looks siiiiiiiiick just blue, although the amount of light is severely reduced. Could see much better with the regular 4300k's on it. Still....looks like a much more expensive car at night.

NgoRX8 09-11-2007 10:45 PM

RotaryP7 09-12-2007 12:50 AM

What a jokester..

06carbon8 09-12-2007 02:12 AM

i'm thinking bs. i looked around and i can't find 13000k, only 10, 12, and 15. so i dunno where he even got them from. prolly jacked out of a mercedes or something and the shop told him whatever bullshit they thought he wanted to hear.

8 Maniac 09-12-2007 02:26 AM

I dont know too much about head lights... but are these really blue or something? Just wondering why they're bad for seeing at night... I tried finding pics on google image search but no luck

NgoRX8 09-12-2007 02:57 AM

well, i'll try to explain, though im no expert. can probably have rotary rasp chime in if it gets anymore technical here, hahah....

these lights at 13000k will be very purple.

the kelvin temperature is a measure of the color. the human eye only sees part of the light spectrum, that which is known as visible light. Natural light is around 5000K (don't quote me), and provides the more intense light output to the human eye. A higher Kelvin temp shifts the color to the blue spectrum and then to purple. This corresponds to a loss in visible light.

they're not bad for seeing at nite, but they certainly aren't as good as our stock HID 4300k. purple will probably annoy some people too, cops included.

Kiken_808 09-12-2007 03:40 AM

I think that the most I would go is 10K. I have 6K and those are cherry. I see these guys and their 12K getting pulled over all the time and i just have to laugh. But hey, its a personal preference thing, I guess.

Here's a link with pictures of all the colors in one photo. 12K bulbs are very purple and have much less light output then factory Xenon.

thanks, that helps a lot. I figured it was color changes, but never really though it would be substantially worse for light.

Jedi54 09-12-2007 01:25 PM

think we scared the OP away.

Thats pretty accurate. Also note that 12000k is approaching the ultraviolet range. This means that signs and other objects will reflect unnatural colors. Also, the glare from anything above 8000k is very intense and you'll eventually get a ticket.

Ultraviolet light is also known to cause fatigue because it forces your eyes to work harder.

Anything over 5000K will cause reduced usable light. The stock bulbs (4300K) are the brightest you can buy.

If you want whiter light, swap the projectors with a pair from the TSX.

turok4n64 09-12-2007 09:21 PM

sorry for the late reply, been busy with school...taking 21 hours of college and working 40 hours a week is quite a busy life.

But anyways, yes they are 13000K bulbs. Ill take pics this weekend.

They are very bright. And very good at night. They show off things you thought you would never see at night.

Maybe with 13,000's it reflects unnatural colors that become murals or famous over-dosed rock stars?

Yes, turning on headlights at night tends to do that. :)

c41250n 09-13-2007 01:41 PM

really.......what's the point!?

kersh4w 09-13-2007 02:15 PM

what ngo and rasp said are correct, but they didnt post the why. obviously, its been stated that 13k is well into the ultra violet/purple color range. the reason that sucks for the human eye is that we respond best to light in the yellow color range. and since purple is the compliment* to yellow, it is actually the worst possible light range to have installed as head lights.

*what is a color compliment? if you take equal amounts of both colors, they mix to form gray. meaing they would be directly opposite each other on a color wheel.
