Ive got a small question about the motor mount TSB!!!

My question is .... since i have the bad idle... in my 2004 which was fine when I bought it used.... and I had the ECM recall done but they didn't tell me about the motor mount. Will they take care of this for me free of charge? I believe it's the old design one, correct?

Thanks
-Josh

Could also be a dirty MAF. It wouldn't hurt to call your local dealership's service advisor and see if they will replace the mounts if that is what really causing the rough idle.

ha i just called the dealership and they said it wasn't a part of a recall from mazda.... that sound right or???? I am just barely past my warrenty milage by 3,000 miles.... i wonder if i can push that issue?

Thanks

the rough idle wasn't actually part of the recall itself. Have them inspect the motor mounts and those should be covered under the TSB. (I had mine changed 2 months ago)

I assume you have an automatic. According to the TSB, only the automatic has the idle/vibration symptom—manual transmission cars exhibit a different symptom that doesn't involve rough idling…

On manual transmission vehicles, when decelerating in 3rd gear with engine speed less than 3,000 RPM at approximately 30 MPH (50km/h), then quickly depressing the accelerator pedal again, a hesitation may occur. This symptom can only be observed in this engine speed and vehicle speed range.

- On automatic transmission vehicles, when at a stop in D range, excessive engine/body vibration may occur. This body vibration does not occur in P or N range.

It wasn't a recall, but a TSB. If it is faulty, it should be replace under warranty.

Do yourself a favor, go to another dealer.

its not the dealers faults. jesus christ why dont u ppl look up the specifics of what a tsb is......

in order for a dealer to perform a tsb on any car the customer must be complainging of that specific problem, the tech must then verify the issue and then it is replaced.
for example, the fuel cap recall is mandatory, my vin is included in the recall, i have had no check engine lights for gross leaks but it must be replaced bc it is a RECALL. if the fuel cap issue was a tsb my car would neevr be touched bc i havent had any dtcs for p0455.......................

anyone understand me?

I guess you're right everyone stop asking the dealer to fix your cars. If it's important they'll call you at home and let you know if need to bring it in.

He is new man.. haha.. dont need to rip into him. He'll learn just like I did, we were all newbies once.

If your outa warrenty and the idling is bad I believe Mazsport has some solid motor mounts which cost cheaper than the Mazda OEM ones, just need to find someone to install them. I've had my motor mounts replaced recently 'cause the idle was bad.. like very bad, my seat felt like a massage chair and you could hear the vibration inside the cabin. Again TsB's are more often than not just advice if you will to help Tech's out if a problem arise's with your car that they can't figure out themselves. Although some TsB's are warrenty work and will be free IF the dealer see's that you have this problem.

What are you crazy? You want to cure an idle problem with solid motor mounts?!? I gave up on my last car because I made the mistake of getting solid motor mounts, they completely ruined the way my car felt.

and tmak26b is dead on about the solid motor mounts. that will make the vibration worse, the RUBBER in oem mounts.....wait for it.....ABSORB the vibration!!!!

True, many mod-crazy folks think that getting hard motor mounts make their rides real "hot" and racy. I guess it's true in a way since the engine/transmission connection will feel more responsive. It seems many don't realize that motor mounts have the same tradeoffs as suspension systems (compliance and response). I like the stocks and wouldn't risk losing the smooth feel.

FlyLow 01-22-2007 07:06 PM

Sorry I miss understood what you were trying to get across.

Just so everyone understands, TSB's are only covered within the provisions of the oriiginal warranty. TSB's do not extend the warranty. If the motor mounts are bad, you will pay.

If you want to replace the stock motor mounts to cure the idle, what is the reason behind getting ones that will feel even worse?
