Invited to RX-8 focus group…

…to offer my thoughts on the car and to get my input on “some new features and accessories being considered”. And, they are paying me $100 for what I’d do for free. Is this a great country, or what?

zoom44 04-29-2004 05:48 PM

Riccio 04-29-2004 05:57 PM

You know we all want the automatic 2-zone ac/heat!!!!

93rdcurrent 04-29-2004 06:40 PM

Uhhh... how 'bout better gas mileage (flame suit on!). J/K :) . I would like to see temp controls on the AC/Heat instead of a dial with blue and red ranges and a machine gun mounted to the front to get people out of your way in the fast lane.

kellybrf 04-29-2004 06:49 PM

i second the machine gun. maybe it could be mounted like the ones on the xkr in die another day

swoope 04-29-2004 07:46 PM

i agree about the a/c,

but i will raise you headlights that turn off after you remove the keys.

and a sixth gear for cruising. aka 3000rpm at ~ 80 to 85mph.

move cup holders forward.

beers

sjt 04-29-2004 07:55 PM

Auto leveling HID headlights... they're just too low right now. & HID high beams.

5th/6th gear true sequential gearbox.

kbull 04-29-2004 07:58 PM

How about a massage seat function? Then I could look forward to heavy traffic as well as the open road (just not as much ) :)

nt5k 04-29-2004 08:11 PM

- bi-xenons
- headlight washers
- make steering get harder based on car speed not engine speed
- lumbar adjustment on non-leather seats
- auto-dimming mirrors on cars without holes in the roof
- convex side mirrors to get rid of blindspots, tint them too
- mute on the radio should also pause
- better dipstick placement
- telescoping wheel
- perforated leather on the steering wheel
- leather handbrake standard
- storage space where the cupholders are (make it option)
- Aux-in on the radio/easy way to connect mp3 players
- auto up/down on all windows
- keyless start option

affenage 04-29-2004 08:19 PM

An easily replaced head unit on the stereo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

red_rx8_red_int 04-29-2004 09:05 PM

windshield wipers that complete their cycle when the car is turned off

Having bought my first brand new sports car in '73 for right around $4,000 , I used to say that any new car going for $30,000 ought to be able to give you a bj for that kind of money. Hehe...

You can get that bj somewhere else much cheaper than $30K - and not from a car at that :D

GiN 04-29-2004 11:14 PM

colour-matched fog lights and high beams
true analog gauges
floor-mounted / covered / hidden spare tire
fold-down rear seats
adjustable final drive gear ratio, or taller 6th gear
factory turbocharger/supercharger option

crumpmd 04-29-2004 11:14 PM

Seat head rest that your head can actually rest against.
built in power supply for the fuzzbuster on the mirror. I've seen the mod but.......

Spazm 04-29-2004 11:58 PM

I think missiles would clear traffic better, as it would blow the cars out of the lane...

A machine gun would just live a cluttered mess ;)

Zoom49 04-30-2004 12:15 AM

A oil pressure guage that really works!!

Smoker 04-30-2004 03:14 AM

Fold down backseats to get some extra trunk space/

MyRxBad 04-30-2004 08:19 AM

My Vote is for:

-Aux in
-Have the side mirrors auto dim like the rear view (or at least tint them)
-Voltmeter (so I know when the battery/alternator is toast.
-Oil pressure that actually reads the oil pressure.
-Move the cupholders forward and put the heated seat switches somewhere else (side of the centre console?)

Rambling Man 04-30-2004 08:36 AM

Two of my pet peeves that have been missed are high/low seat warmers and a place to affix the gas cap when filling up.

MyRxBad 04-30-2004 08:44 AM

Hi/Low seat warmers?
Are you talking about the temperature? Because they work in conjection with the heat setting (dial) of the car.

Really, I did not know that and find that whenever I turn the seat warmer switch on on a cold 65 degree day here in S. Calif. (haha) it's too warm and I have to almost immediately turn it off. Indeed, the car heater is probably off when I turn on the seat warmer....I'll try the seat warmer with the car warmer on low and see what happens.

nippontoy 04-30-2004 10:06 AM

here's an easy one for them. Offer leather option with sport package :)

Red Devil 04-30-2004 10:06 AM

It may be difficult to work this in, but a high temp cat on all cars so Canzoomer or others mods won't burn our the oem equipment. That way, those of us in emissions controlled counties/states won't have to worry about epa fines...

They'll never do it, but I would still like to see it happen...
