Immobilizer Dead?

so i lost my keys a while ago and ordered some new ones off ebay, towed the car to the dealer and had them cut/program the keys. well the dealer called and said that the car isn't accepting the new keys and they think it might be the "programming module" (which i assume is the immobilizer right?). he said he'll try a set of keys they have at the dealer and if that doesn't work than it's deffinitely my "programming module."

anyways, has anyone heard of this before? if it is dead, where can i buy one on my own? he said it'd be 1000 for parts and labor if the module is dead and i'm not keen on spending that obviously :wallbash:

yeah I'm not sure about that but i would not buy from the dealer as you can see they will rape you on the price.....

ya i definitely wouldn't buy the part from them and pay for them to install it. i'd just buy and install it myself (if the immobilizer did in fact "go bad"). anyone know of a place that would sell something like that? or maybe a bypass unit or something? i've heard some piggy-back stuff that has a bypass built in, but i'm not into tuning it or anything. i just want my daily driver back for as little money as possible :squint:

You can buy the part, but the only way to program it is @ dealership.

AND if your ECU indeed gone bad, you might have to send the ECU back to Mazda to program.
