Immediate Stalling :Very Interesting Day at the Pump for my Rx8

So where should i start...

today, after learning that my battery died, i decided that i should change out the battery for a new one. After i replaced the battery, i went out for a test drive, warmed it up, and shut it down.

later, i needed to get to some place and when i started it up, i noticed that it was idling at a lower rpm than usual, 750 rpm instead of the 850 that it normally idles at. Since the normal range is 750-1000rpm, i thought this was normal and moved on. (this was a cold start btw)

so then i got to the gas station by my house and it was about 5 miles away from my house and i decided to fill up even though the gauge said i still had 3/4 left. normally i would not fill up, but since the new battery meant that my trip A was reset and i am obsessed about getting accurate gas mileage :0 , i decided to fill up anyway to start with a clean slate.

upon pulling into the gas station, i saw the tanker truck filling up the reserves. i know that filling up during this time is bad since the sediment is being slushed around and might get inside my tank but then i thought that i have a fuel filter so that should be working right?

i filled up as usual and i started my car...pretty quick start as usual but almost as quick as it started, the car stalled. i started again and it stalled quickly again. if i pressed the clutch in for more than 2 seconds, the car would go down to 500 rpm and stall. i tried to push the pedal down a little more and give it some gas and that was the only way it would not stall at a standstill.

i tried going home and it stalled one time at the parking lot, then stalled one time at a light, then almost stalled but i was at speed so i reengaged the clutch, stalled once more at a stop sign, and then stopped in front of my house.
.................at this point i was getting worried so i got out my phone and i decided a video would be a good way of documenting this.

surprisingly enough, when i decided to video tape this, the problem fixed itself and now it idles smoothly at 800rpm

:cool::cool::cool::cool:
i have no idea what happened

When I changed my battery out the first time, my rpms were lower and it felt like it wanted to stall. It took a little while of driving for things to go back to normal. I'm guessing ecu related? Either way, no worries :)

Good to know its okay now... :)

The PCM learning was all reset when you changed the battery. Will take some driving for it to learn again. Completely normal.
