Unhappy im sad to say!!!!

well i thought i would let you all know that i really appericated your help and advice on buying a new rx-8 2006, but after dealing with 3 dealers two in oregon and 1 in washington i wound up buying a tiburon GT today instead , the 3 mazda dealers that i was tring to work with were a bunch of flipping A holes. after all was said and done they would not budge on thier price at all. i told thwm that i was paying cash and my last offer was 32899.00 fo a with apperance pkge, vav system, and a couple of other items. they basically had the attiude of take it or leave it, so now you know the rest of the story.

Would like to stay registered on this site as you all are quit helpful and a lot of yor ideas can be used on my tiburon

Thanks again
Mark in oregon

Tiburon.. wtf
How did you treat the dealers? My mother always did the classic line of "Whomeva calls me first gets my business..." and it usualy worked. She'd write down the amount she wanted said that line and walked out. More often than not 2-3 days later she'd get a call from one of the dealerships and they'd make a offer. Sorry you didnt get your 8, the tiburons are decent cars for FF but sadly to many rice the hell out of 'em hence a bad rep.

Tiburon is a good car. Surprisingly good considering the family it comes from. Further, you'll be alot happier with the monthly payments I'm sure.

Have fun with it.

wow - im sorry you got dicked over by some dealers like that but to go from having the cash to pay for an RX8 to a Tiburon... ouch thats a fuckup right there

the last offer you said to them was like 33K.... even that seems WAYYY to high for an 06. Your alternatives would have been to get online find a car at a dealership somewhere else in the country and do business over the phone with them. Buy a one way ticket down and drive the baby home

Enjoy the tiburon *tries to squelch snickers*

Did you try the internet? In my own experience, I went to 3 dealers and ran into the same thing. I got online and got a solid deal. I found out I was dealing with the owner's son (assistant mgr) and I bought the car over the phone.

Sounds like a bogus story to me. With the factory incentives and year end close out he should be able to pick one up for 30K easily.

Yup. I was just got my oil changed and was talking the sales mg. I might get a GT for 30K... Might. I just need to think about the down payment quote he asked for.

you were right to walk on them. they totally had it coming...we'll see how much they enjoy that 8 when they have to slash it down $5K this winter because the 07's are starting to flood the lot. That would be a last laugh i wouldn't mind witnessing.

and although i agree that an 8 to a tiburon is a lil drastic of a drop, I'll confess that I checked one out around here too. It's styling is a miracle considering it's roots, and that warranty is second to none. Not to mention that price will easily leave your payments a couple hundred less a month.

No hard feelings...you found a car you like. Hope you enjoy it bro! Sorry all yur dealers are so extremly ghey.

Possibly true but at the same time without knowing this persons age he could be young and the dealers figured "we'll get this kid to budge we aint moving.".

Well thanks for all of the comments and for the record , i was not born yesterday ( 50) loved the rx8 but when you have cash in hand in person at the dealership or over the internet with no trade they both used the price switch give you one price and switch with another to get you in does not fly with me!

i dont do bullshit ,offered a fair price for a 06 30989.00 and that was not good enough. did alot of research on the tiburon and it has almost NO recall tsbs on it, cannot beat the warrenty and has great lines like the rx8 does. dont like the name of the car but it does have great low end power and the power ban is more broad than the 8 and it does have a nice feel to the ride. so anyway thanks and i will let you all know how it is going whith it and for the rest of you rotor heads that think it is a wrong purchase , walk the talk, drive one and then you can post your bs

People don't really respect Tiburon's because they're front wheel drive.

I honestly cannot fathom having enough cash to buy an RX-8 outright (an overpriced one at that) and then going with a Tiburon. Your dealer is out of their minds. You could get a 8 around here for $3k off without even saying a word and if you're paying cash my guess is you could do better.

Have fun with it though. Different strokes for different folks.

Sorry about my comment above but if you really wanted an 8, why settle for a tiburon? Sure, the hyundai is very reliable but the interior is very cheap imo and it's front wheel drive. If I were you, I'd just wait till you find an 8 at the right price and get what you wanted in the first place.

From what I understand, the opposite is true. Dealers make most of their money on service and financing. They want you to pay them interest, which is why you normally get discounts for financing with them.

My ex just bought a car, but a bank loan was 2% lower rate than Nissan would give her, so she just used Nissan financing to get money off the price, and just pays off her Nissan bill early with her bank loan and thus has the lower rate bank loan to pay back instead of the higher Nissan loan. I guess this is a normal practice?

While i wouldn't compare the 8 and the Tiburon, you do get a sporty looking car with lots of stuff for a small price tag. I have heard the shifting is chunky, but again, have never driven one.

Do the dealers see any money for the financing? Even so, doesn't Mazda offer a $1k rebate when you finance through them? He could have done that and then just paid it off 3 months later or whatever the wait period is.

Congrats on a new car! Would of loved to see another 8 in the neighborhood, but I guess the dealers are too stupid/greedy to get your business..granted, you were the smarter one by not caving in and shelling the $$. However, if time wasn't the essence, you might have gotten the deal and let them sweat it out some....bought mine @33k, and regret that I shelled out so much before finding this club..so..know what you are going through :p BUT, I plan on keeping this baby until it falls apart on me, so in the long run, saving 3k is trivial..still..would of been nice to use for other misc. stuff (like appearance package, suspension, etc.). Oh, well! This is another reason why Mazda still sucks when competing against other companies..they could of sold this 8 to a potential buyer and instead had him walk away disgusted with dicking with him...

You offered to pay in cash??? That was your first mistake right there!! NEVER EVER !!!!! offer to pay in cash.. they WANT your money.. so what you do is talk them down and offer for a finance...by financing they make money off of insterest rates etc... thus they will assume to make money off of you... Than upon signing up and things are good to go... That what i did, i managed to talk them down $9K worth before i signed anything, and they agreed to it.

Once everything is said and donw, you pop-up and say.. oh by the way i will be paying in full tonight, as you take the keys to your car..

lesson learned... better luck next time.
