I'm sad

After an unusually warm early winter, I finally had to put the RX8 away this weekend due to an ice and snowstorm here in the Upper Mississippi Valley.

Two months of driving a tank-like, 1994 Chevy Tahoe with 132,000 miles on it now staring me in the face :tear:

And just when it looked like global warming was going to let me drive the Mazda all winter!

Ike 01-17-2007 04:29 PM

Or you could just get proper tires and drive it year round... :dunno:

DARKMAZ8 01-17-2007 04:35 PM

I like the stock tires for winter....keeps me on edge

dmc27 01-17-2007 04:35 PM

M3 = winter fun!! Bring on the fackn snow!!!!

encorez 01-17-2007 05:15 PM

I drive mine still, tire flat spots and all.

09Factor 01-17-2007 05:19 PM

RotaryP7 01-17-2007 05:33 PM

This year has been almost a RECORD in nice weather and snow-free winters. I think we've had one day this whole winter thus far that has had snow on the ground, and by noon it was gone.

I also store a car (not the 8) and i'm starting to wonder if I really even needed to back in October. hmm.

On the upside, the money i was gonna use for snow tires this year has been put to better use. Lets hope jack frost keeps away for the last couple months!

BunnyGirl 01-18-2007 12:57 AM

Well, since you're having such a nice, snow-free winter, I think you gave it to us. We are having a cold, snowy winter, quite beyond normal. I'm getting annoyed at not being able to drive my car right now. I'd get winter tires (was actually planning on it) but I have to save my money for right now since I'm going to be off work for surgery.

Gloat while you can - old man winter isn't finished yet! The unusually mild weather was due to an El Nino and a really nasty cold mass pushing warmer air out of its way and heating by compression - We got the benefit of Russia having minus 36 degrees this winter - but what goes around comes around - we got our first 11 degree weather and coldest recorded for this area! Florida may benefit from California's frozen oranges!

Yeah... El Nino is the short term explanation.....
I guess the reality is that global warming is a reality......

So, for people that don't like snow... .we could contaminate the air even further and throw trash everywhere so each year it could get warmer and warmer, so eventually we will have florida winters up in michigan......

Well, I guess I'm just kidding... but the reality is that I don't appreciate snow too much.... It is nice to see it for about 2 days.... after that, I won't miss it....

Ouch...

just paid $2.04 for premium 2 days back before the "rise" happened. We're back in the 229 range again.

...2 days later....

One good thing about living in Iowa - cheap gas.

At the "ghetto Citgo" in downtown Davenport I got regular for $1.88. The 10 percent ethanol is selling for $1.82!

Of course I won't put that swill in my 8, but it's just fine for the Tahoe!

How are colder temperatures in Russia indicative of global warmings reality?

Yeah the Earth is warming, but don't think because some areas are having a dry winter that it's because global warming is "kicking in".

Global warming at a maximum could affect temperatures by an increase of .2 degrees every year. So even 5 years from now, we would only see a 1 degree change because of global warming effects.

This year we're just having a plain old mild winter. In Connecticut by this time we average 30inches of snow. Know how much we've had this year? 1 inch. And it was a dusting. The last time Connecticut got this little snow this far into winter was 1928. So yeah, it's happened before. The world isn't ending. We don't need to kill all the cows in China. Weather is just a big complex thing. It reaches extremes...

The 8 is running strong here. It would be nice to make it through all winter with it.
