This one, in particular. Is this offered on any USDM models? Is it retro-fitable to non factory equipped vehicles?? If there is anyone who has used this before, please chime in.

the 06 gt and 07s have it.. not retrofitable.

beers

dying_here 03-22-2007 01:29 AM

yep that thing come w/ all the new models. It works amazingly well.

stormyblu8 03-22-2007 09:14 AM

It's cool!

That's the key for the Advanced Keyless Entry system. I've got that on my '07 GT. I love it, just have the key on you and you can lock/unlock the doors and start the car. The physical key is used if the battery dies, or as I have used it a couple of times, to leave in the car at car wash, valet parking.

I can open doors and start my car with my keys.

Yeah, but while you're fishing through your pockets looking for your keys I'll be fishing through my pockets playing pocket pool...

NoTears316 03-22-2007 10:33 AM

How lazy has our society become? Play pocket pool on your own time.

djkrazy 03-22-2007 10:41 AM

I have that .... i like it ....

Rr#3nesis 03-22-2007 10:47 AM

Which is the button that starts your car? The mazda symbol in the middle?

Panzer1939 03-22-2007 10:52 AM

That key is so cool I've decided I hate anyone who has it.

I feel better now.

I don't have this system, but I don't think any of those buttons start the car. You just leave it in your pocket and push a "Start" button on your dashboard. As long as that key is within RFID range (or whatever it uses) the car sense that the key is present and it will start up.

stormyblu8 03-22-2007 11:57 AM

Actually, you don't use a button to start the car. It starts like normal, I just don't have to take the key out of my pocket to unlock/lock the doors or start the car. I turn the ignition like the rest of you. There is a click-on cap on the ignition switch that allows you to turn it without the key inserted. Want to use the key?...just remove the cap and insert the key!

I like it!

I want one for my front door, then I wouldn't have to pull out my keys at all!!!!!

Just bought a new 06GT MT on Saturday. It came with 1 key, this one. I love the ability to open the door and start the car without taking out keys. I don't really like how Mazda went about it. Nissan has a very slick system for their fob, not very large and key fits inside it.

Nissan also doesn't require the plastic cap on the ignition for the valet key to be used, it has a trap door on the end that the key pushes aside when it is inserted. It really doesn't bother me at all though, cause I'm driving my dream car now!

PS The dealer has already ordered a new keyless "key" and valet key for me. Just got a call and looks like he goofed and ordered two keyless and a valet... free key for me :ylsuper:

Keyless entry with no start button is redundant

TimzSI 03-22-2007 04:06 PM

It looks like it would fit perfectly in my coach wallet/clip-thing, I would never have to carry keys. :wtc:

I am crushed.

suitably pleased my thread took off tho!

I use the same moneyclip, it fits.. but I'd be worried that the buttons would get depressed in there. Right now I just leave it in my front pocket next to my pack. :smoker:

TimzSI 03-22-2007 04:17 PM

I'm gonna beat the SHIT outta my car for not being fully equipped tonite.

but then I like the idea she is a light weight stripper model. No accessories beyond necesities. My fobs is pretty cool anyway. Switchblade for the win. :woohoo:

knight7 03-22-2007 11:43 PM

all i want is the folding key they have before this one, the 05s i think. i havent seen one person with one on a 04. any suggestions?...

schpanky 03-22-2007 11:55 PM

damn I wish cool shit like this was available for the 04's *whines*

Gray06 03-22-2007 11:56 PM

I have it also and it's pretty cool. You can also have it in the active mode and it will unlock and lock as come close and move away from the car. The only bad thing is understanding the different type of beeps depending on what you are doimg wrong. :wiggle:

Panzer1939 03-23-2007 09:38 AM

That thing makes the 04 FOB seems like a crank start!

How do you get the fob into active mode? I have the keyless entry too, but I'm not sure mine automatically does the unlock and lock. Do I have to take it to the dealer to have it reprogrammed for this feature?

Rems31 03-23-2007 10:31 AM

Where's the red panic button??
