I Lost My Keys!!! (yes i searched)
Well i lost my keys. i bought the car (2004) used and have no spare or valet key. i just want to get through this as cheaply as possible. can i avoid the dealer somehow? anyone been in this same situation?
P.S. no need for the "idiot steps" for losing your keys lol. i've completed them like 5 times minus calling the dealer. |
is the car locked? Could they be inside?
Other then that, no real way to get around the dealership. I'm pretty sure you'll need to have them order you new keys based on your VIN. (I could be wrong) |
now that sucks...

There was a code that was given to me for reordering find yours. I have a 5 number replacement code for mine. |
Uh.... break the window?

got to go through a dealer. When i bought my car, all I had was a valet key. So I gave the dealer my VIN and got a regular key cut. Cost was $95 to get it programmed/cut. Remote/key was $50 off of ebay. Now is a good time to get a switchblade key.

thanks for the replys. um ya the car is locked and i know for sure the keys aren't in there. i called the dealer and they said 400 for a new key and remote, so i laughed at him until he hung up... is it possible to get a blank key off ebay and have the dealer cut it and program it? cuz i see the uncut switchblade keys for $50 all over ebay.

The forum's search function doesn't work on corporeal objects. Believe me, I've tried.

$50 for program fee(as many items as I wanted) $28-$35 for each key (not switchblade) $108 for the remote. Plus tow that I believe was $75. The truck driver came with a normal truck and tried to tow it from the front. When I told him NO he said I've been doing this for 32 years to wich I replied "in that 32 years how many 8's have you owned? You guys aren't towing this unless you bring a flat bed." |
Also the tech at the dealer made it so if someone had my old key it would not be able to start it. Two weeks ago we pulled the flowers out by our front door and wouldn't you know it there was my key!

If you have the VIN they can cut the keys and program them for you. You will need to buy 2 keys and have them programmed. They can delete all the old keys from the memory at that time.
Buy a couple of $50 uncut e-bay switchblade keys and take them in and get the remotes and the keys programmed. The car will need to be there so a tow is likely the only way. |
Whistle, your keys should let out a reply sound. Keeping whistling till you hear your keys replys back. wish you be the best of luck.
but jokes aside. i hope you find your keys :( |

no joke, it's gotten that bad. i've almost gone insane looking for my keys to the point where calling a phone psychic sounded like a good idea lol. it's very depressing when you lose your keys while you're sober :Eyecrazy:
