Rotary787 is now Online:

Hello everyone. This is my first post although I have been lurking here since just after I Got my car on 26 Jan. It is Red RX-8 MT, GT with appearance & rotary accents plus rear wing, 6CD & Cassette.

This forum is great. I have been reading it everyday for hours since I found out about it. Great Job.

Background & Misc Ramblings:

I sold my 2nd Generation RX-7 GTU, for the 3rd Generation. which I then had to sell when we had our 2nd child. Replaced that with a neon then an eclipse. Therefore, I would would not have gotten the car if it was a 2 seater. It is great to be driving a rotary again.

I got it on a 48 month lease since (1) mazda had 1500 cash back for leases (2) I would need to wait a year if I bought it.

Currently I am considering a CanZoomer Stage 1 mod and adding an aux in mod to the cassette deck. A better exhaust is also an option but this car is leased, so I want to limit the amount of money I put in it.

After reading this forum, if I had it to do over I would get and install the cassette later myself (I paid the dealer ~310 for this). My main purpose for the cassette was to get an aux in (Either through a tape or by mods). After reading the forum, it is obvious I should be installing it myself if I want to mod it.

I am a mechanical & software engineer. I have been somewhat of a car nut since my first 260z that I got when I was 18.

For the last 2 years I have been somewhat addicted to Playstation GT3, where I have finished 100%, using Mazda rotary's where possible. Just seriously tried out RX-8 in the game with good results (also it makes a good enough rally car for me to win with it)

Sometimes my writing is poor because I am to impatient to proof it carefully and I never see errors until I post something.

Is a "carputer" a computer hooked to Nav LCD. Sounds interesting.

I really did not consider the Nav for my RX-8, so I don't know much about it. I am mainly a C++ programmer, who specializes in Navigation/Mission Planning optimization for Aircraft Although at home I am a Mac guy, I did build my last PC. I currently have 3 macs & a PC all networked.

Actually I am trying to think of a good car small application to write (One idea I had was to work out approximate plots of torque & horsepower using published data (max hp & max torque).

That 17" inch is nice. Currently I have a 15" titanium, a modified B/W and an old imac. Is the latest ilife worth buying for Garage Band and how does it work on your 17" inch.

As for the reprogramming for fuel flooding, I used to know alot about older cars in a technical sense (I did very well in internal combustion engines when I got a masters in Mech. Engr. ) But Modern cars controlled thru computers are somewhat new to me. I probally don't know as much as others in the club, but I reading all tech. stuff. Think I will get my feet wet in this area slowly. First I am going to add an AUX IN, then I will probally get CanZoomers Stage 1 mod for a few more hp.
