Yep that car wash does wonders on the 'ol engine bay.
Have used the coin car wash and the garden hose both ,with no problems.
Been doing it since I bought the car,, got one clean engine.
But I dont think I would try it on any older cars with a point type distributor.
At least not without some WD-40 and some compressed air handy.

Great work, Nemesis - you've invented a new method for insuring that *all* the old oil comes out during an oil change. No more worrying about the oil left behind in the oil coolers during an oil change!

So as I understand it, the process is:

1. Change oil
2. Leave off oil filter
3. Start and run engine
4. Replace filter and top off oil
5. Power wash and dry engine bay

Brilliant idea. Are you up for a DIY thread complete with pictures?

You can leave the engine running during the wash, but it's not necessary. I've done it both ways. On and Off

I wouldn't want water to get near the coils. They've been failing.

Well, the engine is still running fine after all these months after having the wash job done.

Question: During the coin washes, do anybody uses the detergent on the powerwash? Or, are you only sticking to water? I would think that you would have to first wash off the dirt with water, spray it with the detergent that you can select, then spray it off with water again...bad idea?
