i finally traded my rx8...

Hi guys. It kindda saddens me to say that I finally traded my 04 rx8.

After the car died on me twice at 2 red lights, I took it to Joe Myer's Mazda and they told me nothing was wrong with my car. On the drive home it happened again. I considered taking it back to the dealership, but I knew they would just blow me off again.

It had 49k miles and was in damn good shape. The BMW dealership gave me $14,500 for it and I owed $7,000. So the trade in took $7,500 off my new fully loaded BMW 328i.

Don't want to compare the BMW to the rx8 because they drive and feel totally different but I will say that I still feel out of place when I drive the BMW. I was so used to the rotary engine and the overall feel of the car.

The funny thing is my payments are the same because they gave me so much for my rx8. And my insurance went down by 10 dollars a month.

Another funny story was that the receptionist at the BMW dealership bought my rx8 the same day for her boyfriend. I sure hope he takes as good care of it as I did.

Well I will miss you guys and will miss visiting the site. I hope you guys have better luck with your 8s and with those pesky Mazda dealerships. Later guys.

It looks like the receptionist's boyfriend is going to need a new engine on the Rx8 soon....

Right?! I LoL'd out loud when I read what he wrote above, "hope he takes as good of care as I did". Either your being humorous, or you didn't really take good care of it.:banghead: :banghead:

ahahaha.. that's awesome.

Your mazda service dept sucks and doesn't fix your problem. The BMW dealer doesn't bother to even check to see if an '04 RX8 is running well before shelling out 14.5 as a trade in. The receptionist doesn't bother to see if the cars a runner before she buys it for her boyfriend.

It's a comedy of errors that will end in:

1. A couple splitting up because her boyfriend feels she wasted money buying a lemon.
2. A BMW dealer dropping the trade in price on RX8 since the last one was such a lemon
3. A crappy Mazda Service Dept once again not having to actually fix anything
4. All of the above.

Oh no. Not another "his car is messed up so it's obviously his fault" post.:banghead:

Congrats stunna. $14.5K on a trade in is a good deal.

by "died" i hope you dont mean stalled. if so then there's nothing mazda can do for a bad driver.

^um, you've got some reading to do. start by searching for thread titles of "recall", "power loss", and "new engine" and check back next week. :)

Sorry you were forced out of it Stunna. Hope you enjoy the BMW - sounds like a nice price on the swap.

Doesn't mean you have to leave the site, tho.

^ because of nice people like you, I'm not leaving.

Didn't stall, the car was in neutral at the red lights and the rpms would just drop below 500 and the car would turn off.

I took really good care of the car, body/interior and engine. Red lined it 4 times a week, and fed it noting but premium for 3 1/2 years. Had the 400 dollars complete service done to it, and all the recalls. Not much more I could have done to prevent the engine failures.

I'm just glad the BMW came with a 40k miles/5 year warranty which covers everything from brakes, oil changes, wipers, to filters at no extra charge. And there even isn't a oil dip stick, the car tells you when to take it in for oil changes/maintenance. Now what I'm I gonna do with all those quarts of 5w20 laying around in the garage??!!

PM ing address now! :lol2:

The BMW service/warranty deal sounds unbelievable. Everytime I see an ad about it I think there's gotta be some kind of catch. You'll have to let us know!

Dont worry.. That Beamer will run great in its Warranty time, lets us know after that! =P

Sorry you had to get ride of the 8. Best of luck with the new ride.
