Seems like it's titanium for me! :D
In my mind sunlight silver is just too hard to get clean, to bright.
You can still see the beautiful lines of the car in titanium.

Hi rxman720b, I saw on your website that they put your car on the dyno. What numbers did you put down?
:)

It was just a test n tune. So 3rd gear pull 8psi around 380-390 RWHP 375 ft/lbs torque. Not bad numbers for 3rd gear and such low boost! I am still fine tuning the the A/F maps and it keeps getting faster!:p

It will be interesting to see the HP once I get it tuned to where I am happy with it. And then.... see what it will do at 14psi in 4th gear. Should get somewhere around 450-500RWHP. It will already run over 125mph in the 1/4 mile! So it can only get faster.

drifting?

hey rxman720b,

you are a very LUCKY guy to be able to drive the rx-8, and on laguna seca no less! thanks for sharing the experience!

2 questions. you said the car is hard to slide and plants down real well. were you able to induce a drift out of a corner? in several of mazda's video shots it showed the car drifting perfectly thru corners, looks like a lot of fun and looks real cool doing it. now i want one even MORE

also, anyone at the event leaked anything about the next rx-7?

Apparently Mazda is now admitting that they have an RX-7 prototype under “heavy development”, but they are still claiming that there is still no commitment to producing the beast. That being said, most of the rumors are now claiming a 2006 production launch.

I still believe that the deciding production factor will be how successful the RX-8 is.

chinx 01-23-2003 08:42 PM

that is what i've heard...somewhere. perhaps it's just rumor, but word has it that they have the basic designs finished but are waiting for the company's go-ahead, which is dependent on how well the rx-8 sells. think it'll do well? duh

On the engine/tranny pic on your website...that oil filter looks like its in a fun position to get to?? Can you reach it from the top of the engine, because if not it doesn't look like you are getting to it from down under.... Or maybe I'm just a tard.

You can get the car to slide any where you want when you turn off the skid contol.

All I heard was a slip about when the new RX-7 comes out.....then everyone suddenly was dead quiet.:p

Since Mazda has lowered and shoved the engine back further towards the middle of the car, they had to put that funky angle on the oil filter mount. It should still be accessable from the top after you remove some of the cosmetic panels that are covering it up. It is still in about the same position as it always had been.
