i dont know what to do...

before i bought the car there was an exhaust rattle. the previous owners took it to the dealer and they fixed it. the rattle came back, i looked under the car and found a bracket to be bent so badly that it ripped a nut thru the frame! what do i do???

here is the brace and the location of the bolt

here is one angle from under my car. the bolt on the far left is the one that ripped out

here is another angle. you can see the lock-nut that should be inside the frame, but its in plain view.

I'd suggest you visit a body shop for repairs.

Most likely they will take your interior apart, placing some new sheet metal from the inside over the ripped out section.

u think they really gotta take out the interior? :(

That happened to mine 3 days after purchasing it. Night time; no room to swerve; too fast to stop; hit a LARGE catalytic converter laying in the road. My incident differs in that the bolts stayed attached, and the brace ripped out from under them. Because of that, it was an easy fix. It left the brace rubbing against the driveshaft, and I was able to crawl underneath and bend it back and forth until it broke off, then carefully drove it back to the dealer. Good luck with yours!

Dude that sucks I would just take it back to the dealer an have them replace it.

scsi 06-10-2006 08:08 PM

i dont think they can replace mine :( it ripped right out of the frame

NgoRX8 06-10-2006 11:33 PM

ouch.. just take it to dealer and see what they say

Nothing a good body shop can't fix.....a few minutes with a welder, some undercoating and you should be good to bolt up a new bracket and be off

scsi 06-13-2006 09:31 PM

took it to the dealer, they said its a body shop job, nothing they can do but order me a new bracket :(

NgoRX8 06-13-2006 09:42 PM

looks like you will be taking it in to a bodyshop then. make sure they're reputable and get that sucker fixed.
