I can't believe it happened to me! :(

Yup, my new Mazda 8 just got banged up today. :( Some girl in a 1990 Plymouth Voyager decided to enter the intersection without looking and I hit her. No, I didn't have a stop sign, so its her fault. So you can chock up a blue one to the banged up list. btw, does this void my warranty? My brother told me it might.

allmotorRX8 01-21-2006 02:47 AM

how bad is the dmg?

juikster 01-21-2006 06:24 AM

That really sucks, getting into an accident. Too bad you had to open your first post with a Bang...... :Freak_ani

Condolences

RUmble 01-21-2006 09:19 AM

I never thought about that. Does getting into an accident void your warranty?

BlueRenesis82 01-21-2006 09:23 AM

lol, hell no.

From my initial lookaround, it seems like only the front passenger side is damaged with no damage to the hood. Except that the whole body kit is caved in so much that its rubbing against the wheel, making the car undriveable. So I had to have it towed. Still waiting on the other driver's insurance to give me a call and tell me they're going to take care of it...

sux to hear that a blue is non-op due to collision :(

spieder 01-21-2006 12:48 PM

Getting into an accident may void your warranty, it depends. If the manufacturer can link the failure to the accident then they won't cover it. For example, a girl I know bought a car and it got a sccrap on the driver door in a parking lot. She had the dent pop'd out by a professional company. She had a rattling problem in the door a few months later and Toyota wouldn't cover it. Turns out that the rattling was being caused by a loose wire terminal in the door. It didn't have the clip from the factory like it was supposed to. The company that pulled the dent never actually took apart the door because the dent was so small that they pulled. She had to fight with the service manager for a week to get them to check it out.

Having an accident should no way be related to having your warranty being voided. As for waiting for the other's insurance to call you, don't. Call them. It's your car and you want it fixed now.

Jeager76 01-21-2006 05:09 PM

Was your car silver? *queue scary music.

Sorry to hear that.

raspyrx7 01-21-2006 05:51 PM

umm I think blue was mentioned like a half dozen times... tho admittedly that was my first thought as I started reading... lol

Shinka_518 01-21-2006 06:28 PM

The only way that I'm aware of your warranty being voided is....

If you have electrical damage and the car is repaired by Darryl, his brother Darryl and his other brother Darryl....instead of Mazda. Anything where they have to bother the brain of the Renesis.

Your body kit probably isn't covered by warranty anyway...unless its all factory installed (Not many items are)....If you have to get the replacement body parts painted...they should be covered by the shop in some fashion along with a solid install. If they don't...go somewhere else. Personally, I'd go to a Mazda bodyshop....it may take a while, but you should have less problems getting future problems addressed.....in theory.

Basically, Mazda's not going to pay for anything that could possibly be paid by your insurance or in your case...the insurance of the soccer mom that you ran into. (Prevents double dipping also) Was she a MILF? LOL!

Sorry to hear that you are down for the count right now......Hopefully, you have an adequate rental ride. Nothing brings the joy of an 8! Hope you get your wheels back soon man.

518!

sorry to hear about your blue getting banged up.
Any pics?

Hope you get her fixed soon.

leighton 01-21-2006 09:23 PM

Its so new, I haven't had a chance to take any pictures. :( And I didn't even transfer over my disposable camera yet, so no pics of the dmg.

bluesunlion 01-21-2006 09:53 PM

you should also go after her company for loss of value, since the car is so new.

wombaticon 01-21-2006 10:31 PM

I don't know where the "[i]f the manufacturer can link the failure to the accident then they won't cover it" theory came from, but under current consumer laws the warranty can't be voided by an accident unless there were existing non-mfgr mods on the damaged areas of the car or the accident can be tied to operator negligence (depending on the language of the warranty). You shouldn't worry about it - assuming there was an accident report and citation issued, you're golden.

leighton 01-23-2006 12:46 PM

Well, just got a call from the other person's insurance company. They're accepting liability so my baby will be fine! Unfortunately, I called the body shop and they said it might be up to a month!!!! :(
