I am considering to buy 06 RX8 for $12k

It is 2006 RX8, I am not sure what trim is but it has leather power seat, heated seat, and bose premium sound. and it has 29k miles on it. Clean title, no accident

I got offer for $12000
I checked KBB and Private party value fair was 12000.
I think it is a good deal.

I want to know
1. does 2006 model has any problems?
2. Please give some advice

Is it automatic or 6speed?

it is automatic. I know automatic is not good and only have 190 hp, but I drive local alot.. Honestly, I just like the RX8 look....lol

If you want Auto, get an auto, don't take the shit people are going to dish out about it. You can still have a ton of fun in the AT and use the paddles to get it to do what you want.

Like any other 8, you just need to make sure you check the oil every other fill, keep up on the maintenance and drive the hell out of it every so often and you'll be fine.

just make sure the car is up to date on TSBs and suggest you just get some new coils, spark plugs and spark plug wire (unless the owner knows when they were last replaced.) Maybe get a compression check but I don't think you should have to with the low miles on the car.

12,000 seems like a good price for it, I got mine 06 back in June with 19k and it was 14,5

I am little worried because it has rotary engine.
I was G35 owner untill a week ago, and I got an accident Feb19. I guess rx8 will be more complicated to keep the car than G35.

some more questions,
There is a local shop that I always went for maintenance of G35. Do you think they know rotary engines and are familiar with it?

and I heard that rev. engine comes from late 06. The car that I am considering is made in April 06. Does it have the new engine?

06 had a lot of updates that 04/05 had to go out and get done so you should be ok. The engine is warrantied for 100,000 miles or 8 years so if break you can get a new one long as you keep your maintenance receipts.

One thing to remember is the engines aren't that bad. There are a lot of owners out there that have not had issues and are at 100,000 miles on original engines. Forums and such you really only hear the horror stories and they make up a very small minority of owners.

It isn't nessessarily more complicated. If you kept good care of past cars and know that you need to put a little bit more into this you are ok. It isn't a cheap car for parts though so keep that in mind.

I guess I cared my previous car well. I went to my local shop every 3000 miles to change the oil and get checked maintenence. I just wish my local shop is familiar with rotary engine

As Bigbacon said, the '06s had a lot of earlier odds and ends fixed. Most minor, but annoying. Sunvisors and heater knobs that broke. Black washer fluid tank so you couldn't see the level. Small starter and battery. '06 AT also has the 6 port engine like the MT, not the lesser 4 port engine of the earlier years. Also a 6 speed slush box.

IMHO, your local shop does not need to know anything about rotaries to maintain it. How often did they have to mess with engine stuff on your G35? If those guys are good enough to keep going to, they'll do what they know and refer you to a dealer or rotary specialist in the event something engine related does occur.
