Hydrogen Powered 8 = 390 Miles per Tank

Dang...I couldnt believe this when I read it!

http://www.autoblog.com/entry/6177529195341507/

I can only get 230 a tank!
Where do I sign up for the US test?

rotarygod 12-12-2004 09:40 PM

They got that much on the tank because they actually had 2 tanks. When the hydrogen tank ran out, they switched over to the conventional gas tank. They cheated.

magixpuma 12-12-2004 09:45 PM

What abunch of ass clowns why would they cheat. like that.

Yeah, its not efficient enough to make power on hydrogen, they need to make power then they will get america's attention if they can crank out 160-250HP on a small hydrogen engine.

rx8wannahave 12-13-2004 03:16 PM

Yeah, who cares about 390 miles when you get only 1/2 a HP...LOL

It's more like 130HP per what I have read but that's about 130HP too little for my taste.

dragula53 12-13-2004 03:50 PM

yeah, 130 hp on hydrogen.. and only 40 miles or so on a 19 gallon hydrogen tank.

I was at the Tokyo motor show recently. Turned out to be mostly boring as it was the smaller motor show catering commercial and barrier free vehicles where barrier free was geared more towards drivers with disabilities rather than no speed limits... Anyway, they did have a video going at the Mazda stand of the Hydrogen RX8 and along with it, the following display which I've attached (hopefully) in the photos below. Enjoy!
