RX8Club.com - Hydrogen.....

Yesterday I searched for information about hydrogen as it relates to rotaries. Hydrogen provides nearly as much power as gasoline given a particular displacement. I thought, "Wow, to drive a 250HP car with no exhaust emissions, (forgetting about negligible oil that makes it's way past seals into combustion)".

Then I read about using just a little hydrogen to turn water vapor into high pressure steam. How great would it be if we started driving steam engines again without any of the dangers of the originals. It seems that the problem of storage ( gaseous hydrogen ) is being addressed with the latest generation of storage tanks (http://www.qtww.com/core_competencies/gf_storage.shtml) and Powerballs (http://www.powerball.net/business/index.html).

Distribution seems to be a big problem, but Germany and Japan each have a hydrogen refuelling station. Given their investment, I was surprised not to see Mazda at the opening of the Japan station (http://www.hydrogenus.com/advocate/ad71jap.asp). Anybody know why ?

I also couldn't find much/any current information about what Mazda is currently doing with hydrogen and rotaries. Anybody ?

How about actual hydrogen conversions of rotaries...any out there ?
