Hubby damaged my car!!!!

Holy Crap!!! He is CURSED, every new vehicle, he does something to it. I haven't even made the first payment yet!!!! He backed the front right quarter panel into another parked car in our driveway and looks like it was hit at high speed. GEEEZ!!! He felt so bad I couldn't even look at it cuz I know I would have made him feel even worse. He did it yesterday, and I didn't even look until I got to work this morning. ARRRGGHHH!!!

It wouldn't be so bad but he did the same thing to new truck and boat, and his old car. Oh well. Thanks for letting me vent.

Jen

See, that's why you should never let a man drive your car...

*heehee* sorry guys, but after all the jokes/threads about women drivers, I had to.

Jen, I'm really sorry he messed up your car. I would kill mine if he hurt mine, which is probably why he doesn't ask to drive it much. Hope it's not anything major...

Chief 02-23-2004 07:33 AM

He sounds a little retarded :P j/k but damn, in the driveway? 3 times lol

mmmdowning 02-23-2004 08:06 AM

It's time to leave him.

maxwell72764 02-23-2004 08:44 AM

He must have SOME attribute for you to keep him around. Get him a bicycle or old Honda and make him park in a field down the road, but for the love of Mike, DON'T let him near the 8 again!

Rotary Nut 02-23-2004 08:56 AM

Hmmm...

Lets see castration may work. How about the Bobbit technique? Just like neutering a dog or cat, it will curb that urge to do manly man things like the need to drive supersexy sports cars with rotary engines!

:D

Winning_BlueRX8 02-23-2004 09:19 AM

"Cursed?" More like "RETARDED!!!!". GRR, that would piss me off so much. You'd think he'd learn his lesson after the first one...or even the second one...OR OMG MAYBE THE THIRD TIME. If he's done this 4 times now in the driveway, I'd hate to ride shotgun with him down a highway or busy intersection. I feel your pain, Jen.

Psylence 02-23-2004 09:29 AM

Holy crap! Get him a freakin' bus pass!

adrian-1 02-23-2004 09:30 AM

I wonder how long he would last on a sportbike?
Sounds like he's a pretty bad driver.
QUOTE "hit another parked car in our driveway and looks like it was hit at high speed" , your lucky he didn't hit the house.

My girlfriend is not allowed to drive my car. Her 2 wreck/1day story:
Turning left at an unprotected green and thought it was a protected green, so a car smacks her rear quarter panel. Exchange insurance info, calls me and says it's still driveable so she's on her way. 5hrs later that day, she's in the blindspot of another car in a 40mph street and gets into another fender bender!
Don't know if it's bad luck or if she was putting on makeup at the same time :)
I did let her testdrive the 8 (me in the passenger side, 11pm at night and only around the block).

Nothing bad about women drivers.. I'm much more concerned with inattentive and outright stupid drivers.

Not to say that your hubby is one; just saying in general :)

Illmatic 02-23-2004 10:47 AM

I don't think that inattentive or unskilled driving is a sex-linked characteristic. I have three adult children and I will let one daughter drive my RX-8, but not my son or other daughter. My son's damage rate--usually at low speed--is appalling. He once caused a car to burst into flame from riding the clutch and has junked five cars. One daughter is much better, but she tends to back into things several times a year.

My oldest daughter drives a bit too fast, but she is very coordinated, a skilled driver and has never hit or damaged anything on wheels.

Which one would you trust?

A guy who can't back-up is an anomaly, a freak of nature.

Might I ask how old he is Jen?

Sue Esponte 02-23-2004 10:51 AM

There's only one thing you can do...

Divorce.

I actually think it's mandated in some states. You should probably consult with a local attorney to find out if your state requires you to divorce a husband who harms your RX8. :)

Sorry about the damage...hopefully it isn't too bad.

I backed my 8 into a Gas pump and a BMW. minimal damage both times, except I got whiplash from the gas pump.. the BMW and I both backed into eachother.. We're both males. It happens.

zoom44 02-23-2004 11:05 AM

public transportation is an excellent option since you probably have a need for him that would take castration off the table.

JensRX8 02-23-2004 11:10 AM

I've contacted an attorney that said I'm in luck, in NC there is an RX8 clause for divorces. I can file and get child support for the car. How cool is that. "JUST KIDDING!" You sick puppies.

He's 47 and has bad luck. I'm 36 and knock on wood, haven't had accident/ticket yet. I keep him for two reasons. He brings me coffee in bed every morning, and 1 other, that I can't mention here and it isn't money!!! I make my own.....Hee hee...hmmmmm....Guess I'd have to trade him in on someone multi-talented that could be all that.....ha ha:) Thanks guys!

Post a picture! We want imagery!

Take his keys and keep it locked.

Keep him for a while...just keep him away from the 8.

So, do tell us. How well is he hung?

winter 02-23-2004 01:41 PM

2 words: Bus Pass.

93rdcurrent 02-23-2004 01:41 PM

I have only had two accidents. The first was after I got out of my car on a snowy hill to push a car in front of me who was stuck. I even turned the wheel and put the tires up against the curb but the car started sliding after about 5 min. Hit a parked car. Not exactly my fault. And the second was during the ice-storm of '95 (I think) in Portland, OR. Drove all the way home from downtown no problem. Get to my condo and the as I went over the first speed bump in 1st gear, foot slightly on brake, and taking it slow the wheels locked up and stalled the car and I slid down and into a guard rail. Slight damage to the rear bumper. Over the next two days my car was hit 3 times and the last car (Ford Exploder) knocked it down the hill with about 10 other cars.

And I'm multi-talented... Just kidding. Hope the car and your husband turn out fine. Oh and like the others suggested, take the keys away.

Jen, honey... he's too old for you. Find a young guy with similar attributes who knows how to back up.

Welll.... if he really is all that, maybe you'd better hang on to him after all, and just send him to bonehead driving school. Coffee in bed, huh?? hmmm... I'm gonna have to get my b/f to read this....

takahashi 02-23-2004 03:51 PM

too harsh... too harsh... then again it is very frustrating that someone stuff up for car :(

JimJimElf 02-23-2004 07:17 PM

Damn that sucks. Hope you get it fixed. That has always been my worse fear when buying a new car. Having it wrecked before the first payment. Been lucky so far. Good luck not killing your hubby.
