How to or where to get 20B engine

OK guys my question is where do some ppl get the 20b engine from and how much does it cost with labor and everything

thanks guys

cosmos make one for like 5k but i am guessing abor and everything and extra parts the 20b will end up in range of 20-30k

You should ask in some of the threads started by 20B owners instead of starting a new thread.

20/30k ?
is it worth that much though?

what are the specs?

StealthTL 11-21-2008 06:43 PM

Worth?

Who can say.

The basic block will be around 4k, but you'd be nuts to just stick it in without a rebuild, probably taking it up to 10k, then mounts, driveshaft, complete replacement of steering, rad and so much else......

PM angeljoelv... I think he's spent the least amount of $$$ on a swap if I'm correct?

oh also they seem to be littering the ground in Puerto Rico. Take a walk there and you'll stub your toe on one....

Too bad none of us can get our hands on a racing 20b motor...now THAT would be interesting.

You can get your hands on one...you can get it through Mazdaspeed Motorsports, they cost a mere 40k. Still have to add the in the 20k or so, to do the swap. But if your looking to keep it NA, for around 12k you can buy an LS1 w/tranny and do the swap...and still have over 400hp. 2 cents...

That would kinda defeat the purpose of owning an RX8. At that point he'd be better off just trading in.

Then that holds true for doing a custom 20b install...why spend the money on a car that is worth almost half of what the build would cost?
But if he really had the money to throw around, he should just fly to PR and buy a freshly built 20b for around 2k and bring it back as freight. Or just spend the money and build a badass turbo renny, then have well more than enough to to do a full suspension and drivetrain upgrade.

04RX8man 11-22-2008 11:19 AM

yeah best bet and cheapest would b fly to PR and get one there that is cheaper than the states!!!! then you still have soem work todo to put it in or have someone else put it in but you'll save money on the engine itself buying it from the PR!!!

Not worth it unless you're loaded.
