How screwed am I?
It's sorted

The door is a problem, they don't make or sell door skins for RX-8's you have to replace the whole door. The rocker panel is also not a very easy fix. It's all doable but it would be at least a $2,000.00 job here done properly.

Bearing in mind if I do get this fixed all the parts will be from breaks. How hard is the rocker panel replacement? Just by looking at it I thought it was attached to the whole side of the car, but what do I know. If that's a single part that can be replaced it will help me a lot. |
Man that is cheap, I thought stuff over there was more expensive.

Anybody got any more info on the rocker panel?

You are selling the car for only £900??

So, what is wrong with it besides just the accident?

that rocker panel is fixable easily by any decent body shop, weld studs on pull dent and repair and paint, 500-100 max for rocker

think i'm just going to split it for parts, and scrap the rest as I feel I'll get more money. I've tried googling this before somebody says "look for yourself" but anybody got a rough price guide on all sellable items on the rx8? Not expensive, not average but I'd prefer on the cheapish side for a quick sale. |
The door's fixable too. You don't need a new door, pull the dent and add a small amount of body filler. Any body shop can repair the door and repaint it. Beats selling the car for 900 pounds. It is correct - no door skins for the RX8. If you needed a new skin, you'd need a new door.

to be honest I want to sell the car any way. As much as driving it feels awesome I can't afford to run it, nevermind have it repaired.
If you don't mind getting less than what its worth with good condition... |
Hell, I wish you were selling it almost a year ago and in the states, I would of easily bought the car for a LOTTT less then what I paid for for my lemon.

Damn £900! Even shit civics with 300,000km go for more than that! GLWS

The car sold, it's not such a bargain guys. The car was damaged on the front end before hand ans recorded as a cat-d write off. The right panel was re-painted but slightly off color, it is so so close that it took me 5 months to realize what the guy I bought it off was on about. Also, had 11 owners. Despite all this, the car ran great. Good compression, good MPG compared to others (shows healthy engine) no starting problems whatsoever and didn't have a rough idle. Had 46k miles, such a shame about the damage.
Thank you everybody for the helpful info, I did find out it was repairable before I sold it the car did need a lot of work. It had 3 days tax and MOT right before I sold it, the off-side drivers door had a huge creased dent so the whole door needed replacing. The bumper needed respraying/replacing, it needed a set of headlamp washers, an oil change + oil filter, a whole new passenger side door (or fix the 3 huge dents) and a rocker panel repair. I will definitely be buying another in the future, just not yet. |
Where are the car's pictures?
