The only people I've known who put down the 8 are on this forum. On other car forums, sure it gets put down, but so does every other car...so what? Me and my friends always rib eachother about our car choices, but nobody means it.

All that matters at the end of the day, do you enjoy your drive home?

 

Since speed is your concern: Get a girl that will screw you on the hood of your car in front of them. That way you can show them that even though your car is slow, you aren't!

 

"F*** you" works well in many situations.

Alternatively, don't let it bother you. Or pretend that it doesn't. If you react at all, just smile and say something like "That's interesting" or "Really?" Or even pretend that you enjoy the gag. The key is that if you let them know it bothers you, that only encourages them.

if you don't like your car or have to jusify it in some fickle way, then you got the wrong car, period.If somebody else doesn't like it, get over it, ignore it, who gives a **** really,it's not like they're making your payments. People are always going to find something to rag on, something to shoot down, take the Enzo or Bugatti for example. You're wasting your time if you think you'll change anyone's mind, the only person who should care about your car is you.

 

I am hoping you had reasons for getting the RX8 in the first place, so I would start with these.

For instance, you might say something like "I have a 1.8 litre engine that produces 230 hp (you can say this cause mazda does, even though we knows its not true), I have a 50/50 weigh distribution, I have 4 seats that people can actually sit in and a trunk to put **** in, my car is consistently ranked in the most fun sports cars to drive by car and driver, my car goes from 60 to 0 in 117' which only two other sports cars can top, my engine redlines at 9k RPMS and is actually comfortable being driven there"

The 8 is NOT the best car in the world. Get over it and enjoy the ride.

 

No car is perfect, as long as you enjoy it, who cares what the next guys say. Getting mad only shows you're not confident with your choice.

How about telling them his torque is for getting their fat @ss moving, and to make up for their personal shortcomings. I love VW commericals.

MY Rx8 gets fuel cut just before 10k rpms (stock tach). Most cars would have to spend $$$ to do something close to that.

What cars are these people driving?

 

Is your car painted Wildcat Blue? That could be the problem right there! Switch to Cardinal Red and you will be just fine.

 

A couple of suggestions:

1: Stop talking to highschoolers
2: Stay away from drivers with mullets

If they think all cars are front wheel drive, don't bother. If they think that American cars are the standard by which all others should be judged (positively, not truthfully), don't bother.

The best comeback is the one they don't want. If someone is telling you your car sucks, they are looking for a mad response from you. If you give it to them and try to shut them up, you are giving in to their wants. Don't. Just tell them that's their opinion and leave it at that. When they see it doesn't bother you anymore, they'll quit. That's how you shut them up. Either that or you just shoot them!

The 8 is far from "fat!" And I agree with most, why do you care what they say? I mean, I kind of understand your frustration. Your buddies or whatever are picking on your car and you'd like a snappy or witty comeback, no? In this case, don't lose your cool. Cause if you do, then they'll know they own you through your car.
