How Many Rotary Engine Miles Have You Driven?
There are alot of early Rotary people on here. How many total miles have you driven on all your Mazda RX's? I bought my first in 1971 and have had 7 of them and loged 519K total miles on Rotarys. Never had to pay for new engine! Keep your revs up! Rotary is for fun not mpg, though my 8 with twice the hp of my first rotary gets 30% better MPG!!!

Two rotarys and to date 160k miles of driving pleasure. :D
|
The 8 is my first rotary. Only about 11k so far.
|
I've been driving rotary powered cars since 1986. I'm not sure about the mileage but my guess would be a lot. :)
|
20k on my FC (bought in 2002, sold in 2004), almost 19k on the 8
39k of fantastic rotary driving here, and looking toward many many more miles in the 8 :D |
Let's see, this is my fourth rotary. Breakdown goes something like this...
1983 RX7 45k 1985 GSL-SE 30k 1987 Turbo II 18k 2005 8 2k = 95k, getting dangerously close to 100k. The only one that treated me bad was the II but I still loved that car best of all. |
14,600miles on my 8.
i love my car. |
Hmm,
I put about 60k on my FC - sold at 145k miles About 13k on my '95FD before it got sold at 65k miles The '8 has 35k on it so far and the new FD (a '93) has clocked up about 4k miles since I got it (@89k miles) So approximately 110k rotary miles. I've had 2 piston cars in my life - the jeep has 26k on it, and the other car I probably put 20k miles on it. So I'm at about a 2.5:1 ish. rotary to piston driven miles so far. :-) |
'81 RX-7 (SA22C) : 45K
'86 RX-7 (FC3S) : 26K '93 RX-7 (FD3S) : 42K '04 RX-8 (SE3P) : 10K Over 120K total miles. Original owner of all my rotary cars, except for the '81 which I bought used in '82. |
04 rx8 - 22,000 miles.
|
About 257,000 miles
1972 RX-2 92K 1978 RX-7 110K 1985 RX-7 GSL 40K 2004 RX-8 15K Always remember that: piston engines go "boing", but the Mazda goes "hmmmmm" |
Somehow, I think your dates are a little off there msrecant ;)
1997 - Camero = 0 rotary miles 1998 - Civic = 0 rotary miles 2000 - Civic = 0 rotary miles 2002 - Accord = 0 rotary miles 2003 - Civic = 0 rotary miles 2005 - RX-8 = 744 rotary miles So I've got a whopping total of 744 miles on my rotaries (well, rotary actually) |
