This works for me:

1) go to a jpeg on your pc
2) right click and select send to and then mail recipient - if you are using outlook express it will ask you if you want your pic to be smaller for e-mail
3) see if it's small enough, if not, open the pic with Paint and start using the image stretch command in the menu to shrink the pic. just be sure to choose the same percentage for horizontal and vertical (i..e keep doing 50% reduction until small enough

Photoshop!!! you can get one of those knocked down versions for free................

The 6 kb limit is quite annoying.

If you get photo CDs from Kodak they come with EasyShare software. It can resize and clean up photos fairly well. I've not tried Irfanview so I can't compare them.

You aren't computer savvy if you can't resize a picture. Apparently you aren't even savvy enough to type "picture resize" into google.

Try picasa it's very easy to use. Make sure you aren't going over the physical file size too.

The simplest way:

PAINT, it comes with windows...Start->All Programs->Accessories->Paint

1. File->Open..., find the image, and click on Open
2. Image->Stretch/Skew..., enter the new percentages, and click Ok
3. Save

Compression my friend, compression.

If you can't do it with jpeg, switch filetype to gif which is smaller.

File > Save for Web
