Hit the curb goin 15-20km/h would there be any damage other then the rim?

I was just wondering if you guys think there would be and damage to the axle or something at that speed. Its too dark for me to see anything at the moment other then my scuffed rims. Ill have to check in the morning I guess. :(

Your damage may be more than cosmetic. Best to get the wheel on a spinner to see if it's bent. I did that when I clipped an apex curb one night. :(

How much was it to fix?

If the wheel is bent, it's cheaper to replace it vs fix it.
Sometimes you can find a replacement on this forum or you could check eBay.

Replacement wheels run about $200 new. I just bought 4 new rims, because I was wanting new ones anyway. Then 2 weeks later, my 8 was gone forever. :(

If you were sliding and then hit the curb there may be some damage to the suspension parts, you should make sure nothing got bent. Get an alignment too.

As Speeder said....you have probably done some damage!! Speed can be deceiving. The fact is, parts are not designed for certain types of impact. I would urge...not to drive your 8. Contact roadside assistance and have your 8 towed into your dealer. Let them know exactly what happened and rely on their expertise to direct you. Good luck. This could be a costly spin!!

I agree, a good wheel alignment can usually tell whether anything is damaged if they are unable to get the settings right.

The lower control arms on the rear suspension are quite flimsy and are designed to be the weak point, trust me, I have had firsthand experience. ;)

Alignment-good idea

That's a prety good clip- I significantly altered my alignment- hit a pot hole-the size of Rhode Island, outside LAX. I noticed a slight drift to left, after, later, about two weeks, while washing it, I could not belive what I saw- the inside of my right tire, had worn down- to almost nothing, strange thing was--it was the left tire that hit the pot hole- took it in for alignment- it was out- Sinve I have 23K on the ODO- , and they where recommending bothh front tires to be replaced- I replaced all four, and one rim. Thanks CALTRAN!!

Some ass just cut me off and I did the same. I was making my right from a right hand only lane. This guy decides to make a right from another lane. He comes inches away so I swirve to the right to avoid him. I clipped the curb pretty badly with my rear passenger side wheel. It was impact with the curb rather then a scratch. It looks like someone took a rock and smashed it on the edge of my rim. My tire got a small peice removed from it too.

What sort of damage can be done on the rear?

Morgan 07-26-2005 07:51 AM

pretty much the same as the front....like everyone said, get it to a dealership and have them check it out for you..they're going to be able to tell you what happend if anything at all...better safe than sorry..

oh and good luck..

dazygirl415 07-26-2005 07:53 AM

You can have an out of round rim, bent control arms, possibly jacked up wheel bearings, and it sounds like you have a flat. (This is all too familiar to me...)

Have it checked out by either the dealership or an alignment place. Both can tell you what damage has been done. It's easy to see if the control arms are bent or pushed out of place if you know what they look like. You won't know if the wheels is out of round until they take it off and try to balance/mount it again.

when I hit the curb at about 20 mph, I did about 5000 worth of damage to my car, broke the lower control arm to the wheel which tore everything else up. I'd say take the wheel off and check for anything out the ordinary, then have the alignment checked

StealthFox 07-26-2005 05:45 PM

go to the dealer and get an alignment check, 20km/h could do suspension damage

staticlag 07-28-2005 05:53 AM

It was snowing, and I ran into and over 2 curbs and over a small tree at about 80 mph sideways and spinning. Sparks as far as the eye could see.

No suspension damage.

takahashi 07-28-2005 07:17 AM

Have you check the lower arm whether you have batch label K4???
