High pitch scream

So i took my rx8 out the other day and noticed a high pitch screaming noise. I was told it might be intake leak or gaz pump.

Here is when it happens:

- if im on neutral there is no noise untill i press on thr gaz i hear a high pitch sound. When i let the gaz go the sound reduces untill the revs are way back down.

- when driving the sound the high pitch sound is present in every single gear and the faster i go the noice gets stronger.

- If driving and then i press the clutch and put it in neutral the sound goes away.

This is a really annoying sound gets to the point that driving the rx8 aint fun no more.

If its a intake leak how can i pinpoint it and fix it.

Do you hear it at idle?
Try to see first if it's mechanical like a pulley bearing going bad.
You can use a piece of tubing to your ear like a stethoscope to try and pinpoint it, or buy an actual mechanic's stethoscope.

You'll need someone to sit in it and rev it to see if you can find it.

Sounds like an idler pulley or an alternator bearing...or maybe even water pump bearing or A/C compressor.
You can remove the belts one at a time to check...don't run it long without the water pump turning though

Often the squeels are RPM dependant. They can be quiet until they get over a certain speed and then they get a lot louder
