oil change before 3k miles or 3months

If you have rodents in the area and she is not getting much use, check firewall for loose fibers. If you see even a hint of damage, spray inside hood with deep woods off and when it is still warm, and being shut down, put a moth ball on either side where the little metal brackets can hold them - they will evaporate and keep pests out.

Avoid getting dampness inside or out - keep well waxed, and check break areas for rust development. Watch corners for dust build up - edges of the second doors, around the edges of the hood and luggage compartment. Wax these areas extra and if you have a moon roof check around the edges when it is open.

Sell it. A car that is this much fun to drive shouldn't be just sitting in the garage. You'll save some money and another person will get to enjoy driving it.

Wouldn't the car end up smelling pretty bad with the Off and mothballs??

Lets see I've had my car for 9 days and have 720 miles on it. Seriously if you are not going to use then let a good friend borrow it or something. Bring it to me I'll break it in properly and spare the mileage on mine.

I don't think you need off and moth balls.

When I lived in Minnesota we never did that.

I don't think Moths live in the winter.

However, if you don't use it for that month it's warm, then Ja you could have moths,
but comeon I leave my motorcycle and 8 in the garage for a month at a time and have no problems.

And I have moths all over the trees, they live and breed in those trees in my yard.

Ask me about my closet. Those suckers like to eat.

Surprsingly not - Deepwoods Off has the least scent of insect sprays and the least human toxicity for most people. Without a front screen 8s are bug gulpers. You don't need to soak anything and you don't want spray it directly on anything plastic. A very little spray will do a lot!

The moth balls leave very little scent and actually freshen the hood better than fabreeze or incense, without creating a major change in the new car smell of the interior - they also continue to vaporize as you drive and the engine warms and scents will fade rapidly - you don't want to use more than one or two because they are potentially combustable and you don't want to let them build up. I found that Enoz Para MothBalls "No Clinging Odor" work the best, with the least scent - it's just enough to discourage pests and I had to experiment with this as I had over $1000 damage to my firewall and wiring from a mouse or squirrel (fortunately Allstate covered it), but I did not want a repeat performance.

I dislike scents, in general, and do not let them put those little car perfume papers in it when I take the car to the hand wash. I also try to get the car washed as early in the morning, as possible, so that car wash team haven't gotten as whiffy. ;)

jimmy69 08-15-2006 09:15 PM

dont worry it has a very nice home now....heat in the winter ac in the summer its living it up.....i just want to make sure the rotary is ok sitting for at least 2 years...most likley it will have about 4k in 2 years by then i will know more or less how this engine works with turbo setups and how long it will last....right now not to many have high miles.....

also you can have a daily driver ferrari.....just get one in every color lol :yelrotflm

Two or three years ago my grandma (who lives in Wisconsin) ended up with the wiring on her truck eaten and also on her van. She had them towed to a local mechanic to have the wiring replaced. Mice had gotten into the garage and eaten them. She was saying the mechanic told her that he had done at least a dozen other wiring replacements on vehicles that spring on vehicles that had little to no winter use that had mouse-eaten wires. All of them were Dodge vehicles.

I’d still recommend putting a few miles on it. Take a trip once a month or use it one weekend a month or something. At 400 miles you haven’t even been able to go over 4,000 RPM. I’d say at least get it up to 1,500 miles and experience a 9k shift. So far I’m only up to 5k RPM and can’t wait for the next 750 miles to fly by. If I remember correctly I put 150 miles on it the first day.

If you have a temperature controlled garage and can be pretty certain you have no pests the car should be fine. If you are going to leave it sit for months on end then you’ll need to do some storage prep for it.

If you can afford a Ferrari you can afford a new Renesis if it blows up. Who needs to wait anything out? Turbo that bitch now.

Or you could always send it to Puerto Rico and have it come back a flame-shooting beast. I mean, you're not driving it all too often, right?

My daily driver is a helicopter. Only peons drive to work.

Brandon 08-16-2006 06:44 PM

Watch the battery, it might die after a while.

jimmy69 08-16-2006 08:03 PM

yes i know.... have to take the batter and put it on a tender in the winter.....i was just wondering if the rotary itself goes bad from lack of use...like should i start it and let it warm up or will it be ok with 70- 75 temp.....

Razz1 08-16-2006 09:30 PM

Seals will always dry out after a period of time.

NgoRX8 08-16-2006 09:36 PM

just start the car once a week, let it warm up, and then shut it off. haha i wish i could put less miles on my car. i need a ferrari...

jimmy69 08-16-2006 09:38 PM

ok thanx for all the info guys...looks like i will take her out once a week at least to stretch her legs out and she will be ok.
