Hi everybody!
I am a couple months into my ownership of my 2004 rx-8. I love it to death, such a perfect first car. The last owner who i purchased it from introduced me to this site if I needed any help, so here I am. The main thing i needed assistance with is understanding what the vents behind the front wheel are for? Also would it be harmful to paint them on the car due to what might be behind it or are they easily removed? Thank you! Also, any random advice regarding owning an rx8 is much appreciated.

For info on the car read these, the first link is the most important.

If the links don't work then just remove everything before "https://www.rx8club.com" and then they should load.

See the links in my signature. Also, this shouldn't be posted in general automotive, and forum rules state that you need to have a descriptive subject line that doesn't require someone to click into the thread to read it.

:boink:Treat a rotary nice and it will treat you great! These are facts, JUST BE MOST CAREFUL IN RAIN SLEET AND SNOW! Rear wheel drive is always horrible for these conditions, proceed with utmost caution, even if you have the best brakes, and tires money can buy, once you lose control the rear end can be very unforgiving! My 07 was worth buying new, and still worth buying used as I search for another one.

You probably had summers or all seasons on, didn't you? The 8 is incredibly capable of handling winter with the RIGHT tires. I was the only one to get into my office every day we were open in the winter year after year, when most of my co-workers drove FWD cars or trucks or SUVs and would mock me for driving a RWD sports car in the winter. Took them a few years to realize that I wasn't getting stuck and never had to call out because I couldn't get there.

'Best' for summer means worst for winter and vise versa.

Hey your right! I had the Dunlop stock summer tires for first 40k, loved them! Then I think I had Dunlop winter tires, and they did handle remarkably better in slick conditions. I just mean it feels much safer then it actually is at higher speeds, I dont mess around with ice. (Need the rain tires here in Florida now. )
Snow would get crazy slick in St Louis, 6-12 inches sleet frozen rain mixture still coming down, id rather play with fire!
