The heck with 7-Stock!

We need an official gathering of "Eight" owners! I vote for a more central U.S. location so more people can attend. And of course we need a cool name for it. Suggestions for either?

The Beav 07-21-2003 01:17 AM

8 stock, yeah

i live in the center of the us so i'd be game for it

vudoodoodoo 07-21-2003 06:23 AM

"8 stock" just does'nt have that ring to it. :D

Spin9k 07-21-2003 08:17 AM

7 Stock has a ring? How bout "RX Stock", that covers everyone? :)

TJRX8 07-21-2003 09:20 AM

No Rotor No Motor.

I think they should call it "Rotor stock" or "Rotary stock". Since there are always lots of non-7 rotary cars there anyway...

Cylo 07-21-2003 10:52 AM

Why include Stock altogether? I mean... are only cars in "stock" form allowed to be there? I think not.

Call it Rotary-RX or the Rotary Rotary club.

97gpGT 07-21-2003 11:36 AM

I think the "stock" part was a play on Woodstock, not referring to the cars' states of tune.

brothervoodoo 07-21-2003 11:47 AM

If you want to combine the rotary community then the "sevenstock" moniker needs to be changed. I wouldn't bother with "8fest" as you get into the same issue.

Cylo 07-21-2003 11:50 AM

We could combine rotaries with rotarians, LOL

How can you diss SevenStock without even attending? As a RX-8 owner, I can tell you that even though the name has "Seven" in it, it is more of a RotorStock with all the old school rotaries, and non-RX7 project cars.

Feel free to organize an all RX-8 meeting, but also know that there is an existing RX community out there that welcomes all of the new RX owners with open arms.

Got my vote.

(I thought "stock" was as in "herd")

but they also want us all to go all the way to the extreme end on the us to go to a meet, where as if it was in a central location a lot more people whould have the ability to attend

Good post. I think a lot of new RX8 owners are just ignorant (through no fault of their own) to the fact the rotary engine already had a massive following. Maybe just a little more education is needed.

Alrighty guys!

Guys:
The SevenStock moniker was considered for a name change this year, but its strong brand image and a need to keep it this year due to promotional and sponsor issues, procluded us from doing it. We will be considering a name change for next year's event to reflect the very wide diversity of Rotary Power vehicles that attend this amazing event.

We tossed around about 10 different titles that will be considered and announced early next year. So, please be patient with us. It is our intention to include EVERYONE in the title!

It really seems to me that this disscussion is about the geographical location of the event and not so much it's name. Yes the west coast is very far for some, but unfortunately, this is were Mazda has it's main operations and R&D center which play a large role in this whole event. Without Mazdas backing and support, for the this most unique of Rotary events, it would almost be impossible to host it and do it to the scale we do each year. There are caravans that leave from all parts of the country and Canada which also make this event a very unique experience. What better way to meet and make friends than a road trip across the country for a pilgrimage to the center of the Mazda universe.

I really wish that we could do an event in all 4 corners of the country, but it's just impossible at the moment. The RX-8 will take a prominent role and be featured at this years event. We would hope that all new RX-8 owners would condsider attending and experience the event for themselves.

BTW, All of your guys input is greatly appreciated!

Not dissing anyone. I know it sounded like that. I was more dissing the location than anything. I would love to attend but putting almost 6,000 miles on my car in a couple weeks isn't in my plans.

Looks like Bern picked up on that! Thanks for clearing it up.
