headlight went out...and not covered by warrenty

so my right headlight goes out..with 35k miles and no problems with the car ..my right headlight goes out..thinking it covered by warrenty the dealer tell me "headlights and tailights are covered only for the first year" I paid $85 fior repair at mazda..they did change my foglights (i think they did that by mistake) because they cracked..im not really complaining ..I just thought it would be covered by warrenty..similar problem happened with my fj cruiser..my right taillight goes out the first month of having it and toyota fixes it and tells me its warrenty covers bumper to bumper..ah well ..still a good car

Did you have HIDs?

A number of "wear items" are not covered under the warranty or only covered for the first 12 months. Batteries, bulbs, belts, filters, fluids, etc. See your warranty for details.

If the lightbulb on your FJ goes out after 25,000 miles, Toyota wouldn't cover that either. They covered it because it had only been a month since you bought it. Likewise, if your RX-8's bulb had gone out one month after buying it, Mazda would have covered it too. Both Toyota and Mazda have the same coverage in regards to wear items -- 12 months or 12,000 miles.

That Warranty sucks. I mean come on. Its a head light HID OEM or not what gives? This is not $60K car.
My bro's AT went out in in his CNG Honda. He called Honda of NA they replaced it for free.

These kinds of occurences seem to be quite irritating. Along with the video Mazda released to their dealers saying RX-8 owner satisfaction surveys will not be considered, it seems like Mazda has deserted its most loyal owners and flagship sportscar drivers.

I was waiting for the MS RX-8 to come out before I do anything considerable at this point. I was thinking of trading the S2K in for a Cayman S since I've been doing substantially better in my personal life, but was waiting for the MS RX-8 if it ever comes out.

At this point it looks like I won't be owning a new Mazda ever again...it makes me sad because I love the rotary engines. My dad had RX-3's and RX-7's all through my childhood.

Dominion your pic in your sig brings back so many nice memories for me...:(

"These kind of occurences"?

The kind where a headlight bulb isn't replaced after 35,000 miles of owning the car?

Name one manufacturer that would do that.

shaolin 08-06-2006 12:30 PM

I thought he was saying his HID headlight itself....not the bulb.

Apologies.

I just bought my Shinka on Tuesday, I was reading a brochure that I found in the glove compartment. Verbatim, it says "Everything (except wear items) from the engine, down to the license plate bulb is covered for the duration of the base warranty"... that seems a little confusing to me.
