Has this ever happened to you?

I was on my way to work today and I saw a rabbit run in front of me. I heard a thud and I kept on driving to work. When I got to work, I noticed my right fog light was out. It was too dark to do an accurate damage assessment so I waited until this afternoon. Here is what I saw when I checked the front of my car. My question is how easy is it to remove the bottom guard, how much will it cost to replace, and what other damage should I look for? :banghead:

oh man that sucks! I think its time for those Racing Beat screens or something.

Sounds like maybe the fog light harness got ripped out.

Something similar happened to my friend in his Passat. He thought he his something but didn't see anything in the road behind him. After work he saw this in the front of his car.

This has happened to me once. I was lucky to only find the head...I felt really bad for the rabbit.

As for what parts, I dont have the # in front of me atm but it looks like skirt is okay, just the black part that has the Rotor needs to be replaced. This same part attaches the front bumper and underskirt...I know that was an obvious statement.

This completely de-bunks the superstition of rabbit's feet being lucky. He had four of them and was sent to bunny heaven by an 8.

All you need now is some carrots and peas.

LOL

btw: true story:

As a young 2ndLt, posting my first Duty Officer assignment, I inspected the mess hall after eating my dinner and passed along the obligatory praise to the mess chief cook.

"Gunny, that was excellent chicken."

"Sir, that was rabbit."

"Well then Gunny, that was excellent rabbit."

:)

As you can see by my avatar, this happened to me but with a flying bird :-P

SilverHokie 02-13-2008 01:51 PM

Price? Location? I want that rabbit lip. Shit is hot. Rabbits give you +30 to horsepower. WOW...im bored.

New Yorker 02-13-2008 01:58 PM

Is the rabbit ok? It looks like he might just be sleeping.

LostAngel 02-13-2008 02:03 PM

my rx8 killed a rabbit the last day I had her...knocked its head clear off :(

dhill1921 02-13-2008 02:04 PM

LOL!! I am going to take the rabbit out when I get home. From what I can tell I can see a compound fracture in one of the legs and I don't see the head...

crafted_soul 02-13-2008 02:11 PM

I'm reporting this to PETA!!!!! :spank:

LOL PWNED !

Well, its easy to take it out, I think all you need to do is remove the undercover (if theres nothing else damaged)

Gish 02-13-2008 02:16 PM

Wait, you didn't immediately take it out of your car??

chrism 02-13-2008 02:16 PM

nycgps 02-13-2008 02:17 PM

It took me about 30 minutes to remove the rabbit. In addition to the compound fracture of the leg, it had a compound fracture of the neck. There was not much blood. I did not get a chance to check out the damage, because I had to wash the car underneath and it was freezing outside!!! I will look at the damage this weekend if the weather is warmer.

Razz1 02-13-2008 09:38 PM

Just buy some new inserts. Push them in and no damage to undercarriage.

I always knew you need a hair cut.

Jethro Tull 02-14-2008 12:38 AM

A friend used to work for the railroad, as an engineer on the freights. He used to tell me about the trains hitting hobos. I really didn't want to hear the details, but he did mention one occassion when all they found afterwards were "hobo chunks" stuck here-and-there in front of the engine..

kersh4w 02-14-2008 11:05 AM

oh thats gross.
