Has anyone been dropped from their insurance?
Ok, so I was in another accident (my third in three years but first in the RX8) and my insurance dropped me. My car is totally fixed now (with a front debadge :smoker: ) but I need to find another agent before I have a lapse in coverage. Not to mention I have school 5 days a week 45 minutes away..... But anyways, I wanted to know if anyone had any tips because I'm not a new driver but I've never shopped for insurance after getting dropped.
At the moment I am getting a discount for having 3 cars on my policy, so I know I'll lose that benefit but I also have almost full coverage with only a $500 deductible.. so if my rates get jacked up, what should I drop and what do I have to keep on my new policy in your opinions? Thanks in advance for any advice and don't worry, I am a very competent driver, just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Which is not hard in south Florida. |
not rocket science, just start calling around and see what kind of rates you can get and what coverage. Then make a choice.

I wouldn't expect any discounts... especially after you answer the "have you been in and if so how man accidents in the past 5 years?" question.
Most states have a high liability pool designed just for you. |
It's gonna cost money.
were all 3 accidents your fault? |
Yep. I had to take responsibility for all of them. Florida is a no-fault state. Idk if that will help my case or not but I'll just have to expect to pay out the ass but that's what I get... Does anybody know how bad it is to have a lapse? It might be cheaper to drive a beater and sit the 8 for a bit. But if a lapse is really bad then I'll have to get something...

Even no fault states rule fault.... If you lapse it'll take 3 years of continuous coverage to recover.

If you're getting a discount now for having three cars on one policy, then you might want to consider taking those other two cars with you when you move to a new company. Since those two cars are the ones that are desirable to an insurance company, you will probably get a better deal on the three as a group. If it was me, I'd be saying "screw you too" to the old company.

and you'll be in the nationwide database for accidents so even if you dont claim them to a new carrier, they'll find them. and then they'll drop you for falsifying information.

I would never lie about that. I was raised to take responsibility for my actions, just not to invest in good tires.
Take responsibility yet blame it on the tires instead of admitting you exceeded what the tires could do and accepting blame where it's due. Just busting your balls but I suspect you get the point. :yelrotflm |
