Halogen headlight life

Anyone else have their 8 with halogen headlights (base model) go through bulbs? I've now had the third burned out bulb in about 6 months.

did you touch the bulb with your hands?
If not, could be a short somewhere. How many miles on your car? year?
I'd swing down to the dealership if you can

sorry, was in a bit of a rush with the initial post.

Full info:
04 Base 6MT. just over 60k miles.
I was extremely careful to not touch the bulb when installing...for all 4 I've replaced over the winter. Stock bulbs burned out, so I replaced them with sylvania ultra white (or something similar) which lasted for about 4000 miles. When they burned out, I replaced them again with just a standard h7 halogen bulb, which only lasted about 2500 miles.

Initially only one headlight burned out, but I replaced both. The replacements both burned out on the same day (wife and I had to drive home with highbeams on). The most recent has been only the drivers side to burn out.
