gotta sell

So because of financial reasons I'm forced to sell my 8. its an '06GT with 20k miles on it. (I bought a yamaha R1 a year ago on my girlfriends credit and it got stolen 3 weeks later and I'm still paying for it so she wants me to sell the car to pay off the debt). Anyhow I have about 3k so spend on my next car and was considering '72 datsun 240z. Figured it would be an awesome car to do some work on...my dad works in a shop so all I would need is parts. Anyone have any experience with these?? If not what other suggestions do u have for a cool car to work on?

oh man that sucks...good luck with getting everything settled...

hmmm cool cars, that datsun is sexy...i would love to have an rx7, FC or FD, or a 240sx S13, those cars are sexy too

uh, didn't you have insurance?? Usually if you finance something, you must provide proof of insurance
I had a '72 240Z back in 1985 and kept if for 4 years. A money pit for sure. Now they are all 27 years old and if you get lucky and find one that isn't rotted, you will still pay for lots of stuff to be done. Also forget about airconditioning.

As I have gotten older, I realize that old cars, while looking cool are crappy for daily drivers. They are simply old. Nice to look at, but eh..

If you can't afford to keep your 8 and pay off the bike debt, stay away from old cars that might become money pits. Why don't you find a 90's or early 00's car that is in good shape. How about a Miata or 240SX?

rotarykillz 05-28-2009 12:17 PM

yeah...you have to invest a ton of money to turn an old car into a daily driver and then by the time you invest the money you don't want to put the miles on it.

If you can afford the payments still that you had on a bike, find a $10k car that you like that you can still finance.

That does suck to be in that spot. Good luck!

damn, the police never found your bike?

Cattywampus 05-28-2009 12:22 PM

How about a well taken care of FD? A good find will set you back about 16k. Good luck with the new purchase.

Son, you have no clue what you just wrote. 3k on a 240z will be a bucket of bolts and duct tapes. :icon_no2: And using someone else' credit is dumb. The only one dumber is the person that lets you use it. :banghead:

Take that 3K and pay off the credit. That would be the honest thing to do.

Thats what I would love to do. I bought the car with 1,900 miles on it....pretty much brand new. I havent been able to have fun with it and mod it cuz I dont know when I would have to get rid of it. RX8 was like a dream car and now that I finally got it...cant keep it.
