Not me. I'm in Vegas we dont get Snow so no salt on the road so no rust for us :smoker:

nycgps 05-26-2008 11:21 PM

It has been posted a while ago.

Its a recall for Canada, but I guess northern area might get this recall someday too.

Especially places like NYC where our government has no money to repair roads cuz they spent all the money on snow salt, spread them all over even when there were NO SNOW.

DOMINION 05-26-2008 11:24 PM

^ "Even when there is no snow"

hirev8 05-26-2008 11:30 PM

Yeah...............you guys down south don't know how lucky you are. With the amount of salt they dump on the roads up here it's like a cancer eatting away at our rides............it,s brutal. Put mine away for the winter so she's never seen any salt, so don't know if this notice is a great concern for me though I guess it does'nt hurt to get checked out.

Im serious.

Its pretty sad, NYC's road quality is already a piece of crap, plus the more salt they spread, the more cracks it will create, then too bad, they have no more money to fix it, they spent it all on the salt and other useless event.

Oh yea I think 3 days ago ? it was Brooklyn Brdige's 125 birthday. yep they had a big ceremony, then at night they freaking had fireworks. I was watching the news then I was like

"Dude, wtf? they have money to throw a ceremony & fireworks but no money to fix the fuxking bridge, potholes like every 5 feet. Great job Michael Bloomberg! Great fuxking job!"

Wargoose 05-27-2008 08:17 AM

Yeah, I received that in the mail yesterday as well. My car's in for service today anyway so the dealer will be looking into it for me.

samyv2 06-02-2008 11:40 AM

delhi 06-02-2008 12:54 PM

huntingturtle 06-02-2008 01:07 PM

Used to Live in Nothern Ontario, Now in Maine wish they would just use sand like they do in Western Canada

hercmafia 06-02-2008 06:28 PM

does this ssp apply to US cars too? I live in maine roads suck big time!

Sleepy-z 06-02-2008 06:37 PM

I would imagine its certain build numbers that are for this recall, sometimes they run out of certain metals and use another kind to build parts, I worked for honda once and they ran out of materials and needed help on a recall...they used a ford supplier and lets just say those parts were then also recalled later on. It happens, dont freak out of it if you dont get one. We actually got the wrong/old style bolts at our plant for the rebuilds, something about the bolts were made of metal that was not approved for use, enviromental related stuff so we had to reorder the right ones since they were available.

Sooo true.

dannobre 06-02-2008 07:28 PM

Actually your hoses get inspected( only replaced if they are leaking :( )...and they install new wheel wheel liners that block the airflow through the oil coolers from what i can see.....

Not high on my list..

Ken

What he did was he just totally messed everything up.

All he did was cut budget & raising taxes to try to get the budget back to *black* instead of *red*.

He cut most of the public Road's budget. his reason was *trying to get people to take public transportation*. Hmm that sounds like a great Idea, but NYC's subway system, honestly, looks like some piece of shit from the 1950s. Yeah yeah the system is over 100 yrs old blah blah blah. ITs Never on time, the station and subway carts always smells like pee, I take E or F train which is probably the *cleanest* train already. Many people want to take subway, but due to its piece of shit service, They would rather take the high gas cost & keep driving their cars.

Now theres another problem, he cut road's budget. guess what, You'll be LUCKY to find a piece of road thats even in NYC. There was this Parade/party last week to celebrate Brooklyn Bridge's 125 years. Uhh huh. They had a nice & big party, small parade, and Fireworks ! That couple million dollars right there. Well, instead of wasting those money, he could've use it to fix the potholes on THE FREAKING BRIDGE.

meh, too long to list. Im just gonna stop right here. this is going off topic anyway.

They do try to fix the roads... Unfortunately by the time they're finished, the other 2 lanes are beat to shit and they have to close down more lanes.

Just look at the BQE and Manhattan Bridge. How long have they been blocking off lanes to "fix" them? 10? 20 years? Lanes have been closed for years for construction on the BQE and the two remaining lanes (which always has major congestion) still feel like an off-road path.

Tell me about it... Have you seen those waterfall scaffoldings around the city lately? Under the Brooklyn Bridge, Brooklyn Docks, Manhattan Docks, etc etc. They look like construction scaffolding and they're pointless. More money gone to waste. Holy money management batman!

Not sure about the rest of America. But each time I cross the border into Washington state, I can tell immediately the road surface became rougher. Night and day difference! And I already have a low opinion of our own BC roads.

Sand maybe more environmentaly friendsly but unfortunately, sand doesnt melt snow and ice. The frigid temperatures we get in chicago requires salt and not sand. Just have to make sure you wash your vehicle as often as you could to remove the salt from your car.

I am just wondering if anyone knows if this recall is in the Americas as well now. I just bought my rx8 used and its having this exact problem and i'm from Minnesota so i definitely have similar weather conditions as Canada.

It's a sand / salt mix they use in western Canada, great for traction & melts some snow but terrible on windshields.

It does not apply to the US. I had to replace my lines a few years back. I got used lines from a southern car partout. I saved about $1000 in parts charges.
