Got my RX8 this morning

So the car passed the compression test at the dealership and I got the car. Absolutely love it. It was an 04 winning blue with 70k on it btw. The dealership suggested an engine carbon removal. They said it isnt necessary but is highly advised so wanted to get thoughts on the matter. I will probably end up getting it if it betters the compression, performance and life of the engine but is it worth the $200? Anyone had it done?

isnt it using the zoom zoom carbon cleaner? you could do it yourself.

It is very easy to do yourself. Save your money.

Yes, it is worth it.

It is advised that you remove the cat when you do this as the chemical go into the conveter and cause extra wear.

Make Mazda do the Zoom Zoom cleaner before you buy it...

Congrats on your purchase of an 8! Do the zoom cleaner yourself as stated earlier. Enjoy the car and redline daily. Posts some pics!

Welcome to the forum and enjoy the car. Don't forget to let the car warm up before you rev or turn off the engine

Congrats! :)

Thanks guys, I will post some pics soon and I live in an apartment complex so it might be a little hard for me to do it myself. It also seems like everytime I work on a car I end up screwing something up and end up having to pay more than it would have cost to get it professionally done...! I redlined it today and drove it pretty hard on the highway... Been warming it up plenty and running some pennzoil premix since that was the best option from autozone until I order the diahutsu stuff. Thanks for the input though!

I'd say if you are not comfortable doing things like the zoom zoom cleaning yourself, someone here might be able to lend you a hand and if worse comes to worse, you can just pay to have it done.

not everyone is DIY kind of person.

Well it isnt that im not comfortable. Im an engineering student (electrical) so I like DIYs and on my past vehicles ive pretty much done anything electrical on them myself. On my last vehicle though, I painted my calipers and I guess at some point during the process someone (me or one of my buddys helping idk) stepped on the brake pedal when all the calipers were off blowing the master cylinder... So that was a good time. Its also a matter of finding somewhere to do it as my apartment parking lot probably isnt the best place and also lacks most of the tools lol... I guess I'll c if anyone living close to toledo oh is willing to lend a hand thanks.

Look around in your areas sub forum and I bet you'll find a weekly/monthly meet up somewhere. Most likely someone there has a driveway they'd let you use to do the work on your car. I've found some of the most helpful people on this forum.

Congratz on the purchase and.... LET THE MODS BEGIN!
