Got into minor accident...

Involved me shearing the middle divider--those large concrete barriers. It had been a long night and I was tired. I glanced over at my things on the passenger seat and then it all happened too quickly.

Luckily, only the wheels (OEM, 18") on the driver's side were damaged. Both wheels are now warped and badly scratched. I took the wheels to a shop today and they estimated $150 per wheel, so I am currently looking to purchase used wheels (OEM, 18"). If you are selling any, please PM me.

The news that both wheels were warped was kind of shocking. I was probably cruising around 70mph. Could I have damaged any mechanical parts?

Sad and Disheartened ,

Yea. Guess I got the best worst case scenario from this. But do you think anything mechanical could have been damaged? I drove home with lots of vibration in the wheel and car--it was pretty rough though, starting around 30-40 mph.

only way to tell would be to drive it with all new wheels and test that theory. if it was just a scrape then i think you should be fine, but if it was a solid hit then who knows what could have felt the impact.

Wait until you get the new wheels on. Get them balanced and check the alignment. After that if you still have vibration I'd take it in to the dealer and get it checked out for possible damaged components.

It was a "glancing blow," a shearing hit--not a direct, perpendicular hit. Like driving close and parallel to a wall, then slightly turning into the wall. It did make a loud bang though and was at speeds of 70+.
