Goodbye Rx8!

Well, I got hitched over a month ago. That led us to sell the 8 and get an acura rdx with tech. A bigger car with awd that's not boring to drive. We paid invoice with lots of dealer options thrown in so it was worth it.

So long folks, it's been great and good luck with the 8's and have a happy new year!

EZZY 01-01-2007 06:47 PM

okay bye!

Krankor 01-01-2007 06:50 PM

Unless you got hitched to a woman already sporting three kids, I fail to see why that meant you had to give up the 8.

Animagix 01-01-2007 08:29 PM

ikea, home depot, costco and maybe a kid some time next year.

redcivic 01-01-2007 08:36 PM

Thats why you give her the SUV.

Wow, the beauty of marriage. Congratulations.

Endgame 01-02-2007 08:55 AM

I can understand the whole getting married and having to offload. I see your real plan...wait until the RX7 drops and talk the wife into letting you get that. Loose the RX8 battle but win the RX war with the 7. I feel you!! Congrats and best wishes to you both! FYI, having kids is a BLAST!!

Rootski 01-02-2007 08:58 AM

Balding yet?

Smokin_LaLa 01-02-2007 09:21 AM

The old ball and chain

yes, i'll most likely get another rotary car in the future. Just hoping they fix the low torque and poor mileage issues within the next few years. I'm a believer of wankel.

The 8 served me well through the years. It was just time for a bigger car that was a pleasure to drive yet could haul more crap. I liked the idea of CUVs and what that class had to offer: sports sedan handling with more cargo room.

did u just say the 8 was boring to drive? i cant believe my ears...

XDEEDUBBX 01-02-2007 11:52 AM

i think he was refering to having a big car that has awd that isn't boring to drive..meaning that majority of big awd cars are boring..the new subaru forester sti looks badass!!!

I bought my RX8 the day I was getting married. Still have it almost two years later.

XDEEDUBBX 01-02-2007 12:09 PM

im keeping mine for a very long time!!

CTrx8 01-02-2007 12:17 PM

my wife helped me find mine - God love that woman. i also have 2 small children so i hate to hear when people dump this b/c of a wife and kids. of course everyone's situation is different and some don't have a choice but it still kills me. just remember, everytime someone sells their 8, an angel loses their wings. :tear:

Sue Esponte 01-02-2007 02:11 PM

Why did getting married mean you had to trade in RX8 for something more practical? There's nothing inherently impractical about the RX8 (if it suited your lifestyle as a bachelor) that would translate into impracticality as a husband. I can understand why having a child might require moving from a smaller car to something bigger but marriage? :squint:

I turned in my TT roadster for a sedan (albeit a 300hp one) right before my daughter was born but my wife was happy to have a 'fun' car in the garage when we got married. And, why an overpriced CRV that offers no more room than a small-mid-sized wagon?

To each his own.

modforce 01-02-2007 02:39 PM

I agree. I would loose mine for more torque and better mileage.

Shini 01-02-2007 05:45 PM

You will be missed.

I'm talking to the car, not you. :spank:

COMMON SENSE

Everyone seems to think just because your married you need a family car.

Hell, I kept my 3000 GT for six years after my girl was born before I sold it.

Putting a kid in the back of a two door is just as easy as a small cramped 4 door.

FastBreak8 01-03-2007 10:57 AM

We are expecting.. I tried out the babyseat in my car, and it didn't fit too well behind the drivers seat but fits fine in the rear passenger seat, with the front passenger seat up a little bit. Which is where I'd want it anyway, so I can glance back there. However if somebody is sitting in the front passenger seat, they will probably be a little cramped :)

The RX8 has passed all my tests for the babyseat, stroller, and anything else that I'll need to take with me for the baby.. So I'm good to go. The wife also bought a 2007 Honda Pilot, so we have plenty of room for family vacations or outtings :)
I'll be a stay at home dad tho, so it'll just be me and the baby during the day if we decide to go anywhere and that shouldn't be a problem...

I guess the true test will be when the baby is actually here in May but I think I'll be good to go.. If not I'll have to trade for a MS3 :) Not sure they have much more room either tho.

He didn't say that at all--your ears are deceiving you (not to mention the eyes).
