Good RX-8 to buy? Help.

Ive been considering buying an rx8 and have read over most of the information in this forum. From what i gather basically take care of it and pay close attention and you shouldn't have any issues. Just looking for some feed back on this particular 05 rx8 and thoughts on whether or not it would be a good buy.

Cars for Sale: 2005 Mazda RX-8 in East Petersburg, PA 17520: Coupe Details - 321680703 - AutoTrader.com

Thanks in advance for any help.

The carfax link is on the side with the maintenance that has been preformed. At least what has been reported.

call Mazda and run VIN number. See what engine its on and what has been done to it. Carfax is also great. sometimes it just says recommended maintenance. my recommended maintenance was replacing the engine. but I only found that out when I called Mazda.

This might be a stupid question but do i just call a local dealer or is there a corp number to call?

They say it has TPMS, did the 2005 models have TPMS as I thought that was introduced in late 2008.

2004's have TPMs, not to be confused with PMS

Checking the VIN and the CarFax doesn't say everything what's done with it. Anyway, just get an engine compression test before you commit to buy, good luck.

+1. Get a compression test. It has 70K miles. I'd check to see if the car is still under warranty

A local dealer should be fine. thats what I did. I think I asked service dept.
And I know it wont tell you everything, but Im saying if the car has 70k miles on it, and you find out the engine was replaced at 60k miles, then you have a good shot at a good engine. 10k mile engine probably has good compression. probably.
Calling them to find out cant hurt. Compression test good idea.
If that car is still under warranty, it would not be for much longer right?
its 100k miles or 8 years. I think.

Good Luck.

my 2005 has tpms.

it's not "introduced" in late 2008, the law required all cars to have tpms for 2008 model year.

you can call either the dealer or corporate, i think they might be looking at the same screen.

the key info is the emissions warranty, and the engine warranty, and any outstanding recalls.

the main cat, and engine are maintenance items.

also it should get a compression check.

other than that get it, its nice!
