Wink Good Bye RX-8 - Hello ...

After four and a half years and 100.000 miles with two RX-8 (first was black, second was red), I felt it was time for a change.

The RX-8 is one of the best cars there is for that kind of money and I've enjoyed every moment in it. Anyhow, I want something different and I need something bigger, since my wife got a smaller car than she had before and my Mazda happens to be a Volvo dealer as well.

"Volvo???" you might reply.

"Yes" I might answer.

It's a damn great ride and a total change of paradigm - Diesel for Rotary, AT for MT, compact SUV for 4-door-sportscar (well, and apart from that, it has one of best stereos money can buy).

Regarding the looks, judge yourselves, the bigger one is mine and the smaller one my wife's car. Matching colors ...

The Volvos are cool, in a boring family-car kind of way. Very very practical though. Have you blown the engine yet by waiting for the beep?

Rotard, WTF is a "gangled creature"? Did you mean "gangling creature," or did someone actually "gangle" you at some point? I had no idea it could be used as a verb.

Nice Vulvas. There's no greater joy than fatherhood ... but I owe it to my 2 little buddyboys that I teach them well about sports cars. One will inherit the 8, and the other will inherit the Miata. Daddy should not drive a Volvo ... wife can drive the Honda Pilot, but Daddy has a responsibility to teach the boys about sports cars.

Huh, I did not realize they made Volvos anymore! Must have been 20 years since I saw one last. Supposedly built tank-like when they used to think it was good to be rigid, rather than energy-absorbing for crashes as modern science knows.

Nothing against miatas, but the one who gets the 8 is the luckier one... unless you've done some pretty sweet stuff to the miata. Both cars are great, but the 8 is better.

If I remember correctly, they always pushed for good safety ratings though. They were still pretty high on safety ratings for a while I think.

I always liked the C30. It's quite a unique car I test drove the T5 version and it wasn't bad at all. Certainly no where as engaging as the rx-8. But for a FWD hatch, it's not bad and i like the unique styling.
We also nearly bought a V50 wagon. It was our 2nd runner up. But alas, the Mazda6 wagon suited us better.

Not sure if you know....

Wrong, the Miata will still be running.

Both of my boys prefer the Miata, no comparison as far as they're concerned. Since there's only two seats, it's special time with Daddy, and they can sit in the front and see out.
