Getting pissed off with Mazda (Calgary)
 

I'll admit I haven't gone to North Hill yet, but both Kramer and Sunridge continually seem to get my goat.

Most recently, I've been looking at getting a new vehicle under the 2011 Mazda event (0% financing or $4k back). And the response has been either "I'm too busy to get back to you". Or "It's pointless giving you a quote because you're closer to another dealer".

Are these guys on glue? Or is there something about the Mazda year-end event that they simply don't want to participate in?

I've owned Mazda for over 10 years now, an RX-7 and RX-8 (and even recommended to my girlfriend who bought a 6). But I'm thinking about switching horses.

Does anyone have anything good to say about any of these dealers in Calgary?

Honestly, if the dealer isn't willing to give you the time of day as a prospective buyer, do you REALLY want to do business with them.

What you should do is go to your local dealer, test drive all the cars you want to test drive, then go and actually decide what car you want to buy, even if it isn't a Mazda.

Once you decide what car you want to buy, THEN you send emails to all the different dealers, and tell them you are buying a car in 1 week, and you want their best price, period. Whoever gives you the best price wins.

You only go to dealers further away if they have a car in the exact configuration you want to test drive, when your closest dealer doesn't have one available. Or, when you are actually signing papers.

Bladecutter's strategy is the exact strategy I've been using for every new car I bought.
Ask them for a quote (OUT THE DOOR QUOTE) when you've already decided on one or two cars. Fire off emails saying that you're ready to buy from whoever offers the best deal.

I went to Kramer when I was looking for Mazdaspeed protege. They had the worse customer service ever. Wouldn't give me the time of day even though I had money in hand. I ended up buying it from Northhill. I also bought my 8 from Northhill but don't recommend them anymore either. I went in to get my mom the 3 and the sales guy treated me like he was doing me a favour by selling me another car. Ended up getting a good deal at Sunridge, but took a while to get service.

But I'll have to say that all the Mazda dealers in Calgary are mediocre at best.

Customer service should be their priority. Those dealerships will get bad reviews and if people find out about it, then they shouldn't do business with them, as simple as that.

I suspect their salesmen will be outsourced once everyone figures out we can get what we need on the internets :)
