Getting asked to do surveys and making money...hEh

So day before yesterday, I got a call as I was going to dinner and it was some la focus group or somethign like that wanting my time and gonna ask me questions and I was about to hangup when the lady was like.. we know you just bought an rx8 and this and that would like you to do this survey thing and we'll pay you 100 bucks for two hours of your time and all you need to do now is take the screener survey.. so i'm like 100 bucks in 2 hours .. sure..

Anyway.. I took the screener which asked a bunch of questions like would I buy this or that for my next purchase.. or what did I consider about the car when I made my purchase.. and stuff.. took about 10 minutes

But anyway I have an appointment now to go to LA to do some consumer focus group thing... I'm making money with my rx8 .. yay!

Next day I get another piece of mail.. and it has a dollar bill in it.. I'm like sweet!
They also wanna know more about rx8 consumers.. and have a whole survey.. that I guess i'll be nice and do it... gotta represent the zoom zoom

I got the same call on my cell phone today. I was wondering if it was somekinda joke, well I guess I should give it a shot. $100.00 bucks, I think it's worth a try.

Guys-is for real. I did this few weeks ago and you look at pictures of different cars and give opinions on style. You enter answers on handheld computer. Took me about one and half hours from start to finish and was handed envelope with $100 bill. Also was asked if I would consider coming back two days later for roundtable discussion but I declined. Was toasted by then but probably passed up another C note!

Go for it!

Yah.. I could do that all day as long as they pay me 100 bucks / 2 hours....

I don't even have a job yet.. so they can ask me to come back as much as they want...

I just got the same call last night. I will do it if it doesn't conflict with my schedule.

I just did the survey tonight... they asked me to come back and do another discussion group for like 1.5 hours... they'd pay me 70 bucks.. but I have another meeting.. so I couldn't do it

But anyway.. this is what I experienced... sit down.. take survey on palm pilot...
then go into car showroom area where you look at a bunch of cars..and say how you like the exterior look and interior space..

the cars were:
1) mitsubishi eclipse - latest one
2) honda civic
3) mazda rx-8
4) scion tc
5) acura rsx
6) mazda mx5 - i think latest one
7) g35 - probably latest one.. had subaru sedan wing.. the flat one on the back..
8) mazda concept... i'm pretty sure its a mazda.. cuz of the styling..

Note: all cars had been debadged.. but its pretty obvious to any car enthusiast what they were... except the mazda concept...

I got my 100 bucks and left after the survey..

anyway.. What I really wanted to say.. was about the new mazda concept

it looks pretty sweet.. kind of a cross between the rx8 front with a bigger grill... kinda looks like the new nissan concept foria.. with a long tail light across the back...

no suicide doors... its a 2+2 coupe... very short back..i know its not an rx.. cuz
it will have a 2.0 liter 4-cyl engine with either 160hp/130tq or 190hp/140tq priced around 18-20k... i had to guess the price from the questions they asked... come to think of it.. the front grill kinda looks like the mazda 3 grill... but diamond pattern like the rx8...

the car weighs in at about 2500lb.. 31or 30mph depending on engine power.. more power = less mpg...

um... so the coolest feature they showed us.. (keep in mind the concepts were VERY prototype.. seperate exterior for viewing purposes.. and interior for comfort testing which had no exterior panels.. except the back windshield).. anyway the coolest feature was that the two back seats were not the same size.. driver side one sucked hard... my head if the windshield was not there would almost be halfway through it... while the passenger side rear seat had adjustable height and tilt... very cool.. AND it had the additional feature that the front seat can fold down into a table looking thing like in today's minivans... this backseat had plenty of head room and was quite comfortable actually... especially with the table down.. you can prop your legs up... ultimate leg room...

i suppose this is some sort of mazda 3 ? or something... or just new concept completely...
i woulda thought it was rx7.. but the engine was an inline or something... so oh well..

hope you guys found this info enjoyable... oh btw.. 18" rims.. NICE

I had a chance to do the same type of survey. It was at the Pomona Fairplex. They paid me $150 for about one hour time. Got to give inputs on the new Porsche Cayman. The group of cars that I got to survey with included the C6 vette, M3, Carrera, CLK, and other exotics. No trick! They are very tight with security though, made sure that no cameras were taken in.

I might have been at the same survey as Gerael

I think we might have been at the same survey. I loved the concept vehicle as well. That price of $20k is really good for a car like that, because I would have guessed that it would have been at least in the upper 30K to mid 40K range. I loved the rims as well.

On a side note I have never seen so many RX8 in a parking lot in my life other than a dealership.

yah.. i put like.. 26k.. cuz I want the price to be low.. but i would think it woulda been 30k...

crap... I wonder when it comes out.. what it will actually cost.. and how much they're rippin off the consumers... cuz we don't really know what the parts ever actually cost... and how much they make off each car... like mercedes... piece of crap that shoulbe lke... 30k.. but since they're so expensive.. all the ballers get it and pay hundreds of k's...

hrm... I wanna do this for a living.. haha... make so much money...

I was in the 1:30 group.. only saw one other rx8.. it was a shinka from florida.. haha

I was at the 7:30 focus group. I parked next to 2 rx8s and opposite another. One of them had the mazda speed kit on, and we all had custom exhausts.

Saltyjim here. My kid got into filling out the surveys and tried to get me to do it too. I'm not too good on the computer yet though, but he says it's really easy. This is the link he gave me:

http://www.mywebpowerlibrary.com/

He does well enough that he will not need a job this summer and he says he will have enough saved up for the car he wants.

Good luck!
