Getting ahead of the curve

Ok, I am supposed to pick up my new rx8 the first week in February. I have been in this forum for several weeks so I thought I would get some stuff out of the way. Gee, the gas mileage is terrible, how come there isn't more torque?, my other car is faster, your other car is faster, it burns too much oil, man you can't drive it in the snow, my father's Oldsmobile had a bigger trunk. There, I think that about covers it. Can't wait for the first week in February.:D :D

And you will love it none the less:) Enjoy it.

Yes. The MPG issue is really a moot point for me as My Passat W8 got about the same but it had a 22 gal tank and almost cost double what it costs to fill my 8.

The handling, looks and feel of this car gives me a shit eatin' grin everytime I stick the key in and let her rip!:D

The whirring sound of the engine is simply mesmerizing!

haha! I like your humor!! So when you take delivery don't worry about it! and just enjoy your car.. I gave mine a nice washing today and I had to take it out for a couple hour drive.. of course with a big smile on my face!

Really two of the issues are not too bad.

If I drive my 8 like my previous car (same route) just cruising along easy I can get 17-18 mpg in town. The magic is shifting before 3600 and disabling the 2 stability systems. Problem there is wanting to just cruise along! NOT ALWAYS.

Oil? I am using just under a quart in 3000 miles. I don't know if that is good or bad but just the fact.

You are gonna love it! Wait until you hear the engine purr in your garage!

crappy gas mileage and having to add oil once in a while is a small price to pay for driving the coolest car in town!

Yeah! What he said!

The good thing is the tank is small so it doesn't hurt very much. I know the guys at the Chevron by name, they probably think I have 10,000 miles on the car by now. The other night they were checking the car out, along with another customer, then they had a drive off on the other side. A real attention getter, that's for sure.
