get my new 8 this week....few questions

Hey

I just joined this thread and get my new 04' rx8 this week. I cant wait. I think its going to be awesome and plan to be on this forum for a while. I have a few questions first.

1. the sales guy at the dealership told me the rx8 was front wheel drive? Isnt it RWD?

2. Does the rx8 require or is it recommended to put premium 93 octane gas in it? Or is 87 ok for the engine?

3. Anyone with the navigation dvd package, how do you like it? Is it easy to use. The one i am getting comes with it and i think its going to be awesome. When you play a dvd through it do you just put the dvd in the cd slot on the dash and it recognizes its a dvd?

4. Anyone in or near Houston? ever have any meets around the houston area?

Thanks and im sure i will have some more soon.

1. RWD
2. 91 Octane recommended
3. I have Navigation. It's a decent system but the maps are out dated. You cannot play normal dvd's unless you change a few things. (www.mazdaparts.com has the kit)
4. Check the Regional forums...think there's a meet near you.

Welcome to the Club.

P.S. Most of this has been talked about to death. The search button is your new best friend. :)

1. the sales guy obviously doesn't know what he's talking about. lol...
2. what jedi said, but some have done 87. some have gotten better mileage at lower octane, some have gotten engine knocking.
3. a friend told me the navi doesn't work at some places. it is outdated. lead her to dirt roads and couldn't find some established restaurants.
4. what jedi said. there are lots of peoples in texas.

thanks for the responses. Is there any way to update the software on the navigation? It seems like mazda would have thought of a way to do that by now.

namrag69, you really need to search.

The navigation issue has been talked about A LOT.

as for the outdated navigation, all you need is a newer dvd with updated maps. easy to find on ebay. as well as dvd's for maps of other countrys.

you can also buy the updated DVD new from mazda for something close to 250 bucks.
