Gas pump auto-shutoff didn't work...

Was filling up today and the gas pump's auto-shutoff didn't work. It just stayed on after the tank filled, and basically started dumping fuel down the side of the car.

I've had this car for two-thirds of its miles and have never ever topped off the fuel tank. I always let the pump run until the auto-shutoff triggers, and then stop.

I've heard there's a chance of EVAP system issues in a case like this. Should I be worried? Anything to do/check?

You should be fine...clean up the mess and drive it far enough to get the fuel level down into the tank a bit. if it's loaded up the charcoal canister it might run a little funny if it is purging it...but the ECU compensates for the fuel when it is doing that so it shouldn't be too noticeable.

I've filled the fuel tank right up to the brim on numerous occasions (doing mileage tests). Never had any issues .

It will be fine my friend. Have done it myself.

Those nozzles have a tube at end of them that senses fuel.

They eventually fail, and maybe the gas station pump you use is the cause.

This happened to me once at a 7-Eleven, didn't have any issues afterwards.
