FWD vs. RWD Wheels

I just have a quick question. Would a set of "FWD" wheels fit onto the RX8, even though it's a RWD car? And if not, why not? What's the difference between FWD and RWD wheels?

There is no difference. If the wheels you are interested in have the same bolt circle, the same hub bore, an offset within +/- 5mm of 50mm and meet your diameter width requirements they will fit fine. Don't go too heavy because that will blow your handling on anything but smooth pavement and will also hurt ride a bit.

Why would you do that?????! RWD is better..

Havent you noticed that 99% of the best cars and most powerfull ones are RWD..

i dont think the intrepid wheels are so bad to tell you the truth.... i kinda like them, even though if i was putting rims on my car i would go for more of a racing style rim

no such thing as FWD wheels really.
Its all about the bolt pattern and offset.

You know, I was going to write something intersting, but I can't stop thinking about the high school kid wanting to beat the STi.

There is indeed a difference between fwd and rwd rims. The two key factors are offset, and strength. The fwd rims are purely for CAR only. The RWD aftermarket rims are built stronger, because rwd rims apply to a list of heavier vehicles that need more strength. I remember going to race shop wanting rims for my rwd track car, and always looking at the fwd ones. The guy kept telling me, you can't get them because they are for fwd only. As long as the offset matches, the only real difference is the strength. If you put a set of 18 inch fwd rims on an SUV, you can be assured you will bend them very quickly and easily.
