Fuel tank swish
 

I hate to ask stupid questions but here goes: Car is 14 months old, 15k, and since it was new when I first fire it up, I hear fluid swishing around somewhere??? My hearing is very poor in one ear so I can't make out a location, but it definately sounds more up front than in the rear. Is the fuel tank centrally located as opposed to being under the trunk? I've never read a thread about this, and it doesn't seem to be an issue in performance (17-19mpg), but it definately is liquid moving, and quite a bit of it. I would hate to think I'm hauling around several gallons of water, but it makes the same noise rain or shine.

It's probably the fuel pump getting fuel to the engine. You especially hear it from a startup because you're putting gas through the line and displacing air. Gives it that echoey swish noise.

The noise you are hearing is air in the water of your heater core. Turn your heater to full and drive around for an hour or so and it should bleed out to the radiator. THen just top up your expansion tank and all should be well. Make sure you use coolant to top it up and not water.

hmm, I heard a water swish this morning as i was pulling out of my driveway and driving around with my "heater on full" doesn't sound like a lot of fun in Sunny So Cal.

That's the ticket. Just remember to wait for the engine to cool down before adding the coolant. The expansion tank is pressurized.

Mine does that as well. It is definitely the coolant running. Follow the procedure above.
