Found where the rattle is

My Red MTGT has about 7000 miles on it and it has been having a buzzing rattle up front when driving. I have not been able to find where it came from until this week when I leaned my head towards the windshield. My right ear was hearing the rattle from the fancy rear view mirror (with auto dimming). When I hold the mirror with my hand the rattle would go away.

Has anyone else experienced this? I will take the car to the dealer when I get my 7500 miles service done.

Mine is the same with only 2600 miles. When I move the mirror or even squeeze it slightly I can hear a plastic-on-plastic 'creaking' sound. Please update us if you can convince your dealer to do something about it.

I have the same rattle but usually goes away when i push my mirrors together. However, it comes back once I hit the mirror with my sun screen thingy.

Mine has been making that noise for about 2 weeks now. I just adjust slightly and it goes away for a while, but now I'm noticing another rattling sound in the rear passenger side.

Rear passenger interior quarter panel loose where factory wires come through--there is a tsb on this and they ordered the required clips and fixed mine under warranty.

Yeah I discovered that too. Held it with my right hand and it stops for awhile. The bass from my two subs makes it rattle and agrivates the problem again. My fix is to just turn up the music and drown it out.

I'm at 11k and my rear view mirror rattles horribly. If I hold it, it stops. Usually, if I move it slightly it will stop for a while and then come back maybe two weeks later.

I mentioned this to the service techs when I brought the car in and they said they would take a look at it.

Yep. I get the same "buzzing" sound from my mirror. If I move it slightly it goes away or if I squeeze the plastics together. But it does come back ocassionally.

Guys, check the little plastic arm that covers the wire going to the rearview mirror. I found that it is supposed to snap into something in there. Once I did that, the noise ended.

i have the same rear view mirror rattle, and i have had this problem since 5000 miles. it goes away when u move it, but the sound comes back a few days later...i also have a rattle in the rear passenger (RR) speaker panel. i had the dealership replace that panel but the rattle has come back too! in addition, i recently acquired the driver air bag rattle (TSB). ive yet to take into the dealer to fix it...

Xero, I just took my car into the dealership because of a nasty rattle in the dash. They found that the GPS antenna up there had not been bolted down at the factory.

Do you have the Nav? If so, you might want to look into that possibility.
